Our 2010 trip to the CWS coincided with the advent of the ready availability of streaming baseball. I remember watching all the regional and super regional games on a laptop with watchESPN. That following seasons with the rise in SCar and decline at Clemson invited a tidal wave of casuals who suddenly had very strong opinions about a sport they had next to no knowledge of. People can’t seem to wrap their heads around the fact that college baseball is, at its best, equivalent to Hi-A minor league ball. The major difference being that the pitchers aren’t on as rigorous pitch counts. college ball is centered on winning over player development - which is why MLB hates for its prospects to go to college. No one expects to go to their local minor league park and see great baseball but they savage these college players based on completely insane expectations.
