Unreal shooting vs no defense

I have been around basketball since I played in high school 55 years ago and I never remember stats like Miami had last night. As far as TNET goes, you either choose to skip the non basketball people's posts who only bash Coach Brownell or skim over some of the posts. For those of you who have ever played or coached, a team can scheme for 1 or maybe 2 players that get hot but last night was just crazy. Miami made 21 of 28 shots and 14 of 15 foul shots in the 2nd half. There is no defense than can shut down 5 guys at a time when nobody misses. For the game, we shot 45.6% from the field, 36.7% from 3 and 100% from the line which in most cases is winning the game. Miami could just not miss and once in a blue moon, that happens.

Now we need to go back to work and play 2 halves against Carolina.

yeah the only thing that might have worked was to play dirty and get the other

team all hot and bothered but even then thats not exactly a remedy. Plus it creates a bad reputation and standard. But that was about all you could have done. Also we dont' have Rick Barnes directing that or Bill Harder or Iker Iturbe on this team.

They were HOT as a just lit match! Beat all I have ever seen. The defense may not of been spectacular there’s not much help with the numbers. Think we didn’t get inside enough though..

Flush it and move on. Need to play a little better Saturday.

and is a match-up nightmare for most teams (including Miami last night), so it is an absolute mystery to me why he insists on orbiting around the perimeter like a satellite looking for three-point opportunities.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Another person that didn’t play sports. The players go where the offensive set dictates. This isn’t pick up street ball. PJ doesn’t just decide that tonight he will do whatever he wants and ignore the coaches.
Let the coaches handle the positioning, you should watch and try to understand the game. It’s not that complicated.
Up 6 at the half, it came down to lights out shooting and they got way too many uncontested 15 footers in the 2nd half.
Nobody should wet themselves, everything will be OK. They will win again. No need to fire Dabo…

We definitely didn't contest shots well in the second half.

They defended him pretty well in the post although I think he should have went at their guy more and got him in foul trouble.

they were missing their best 3 point shooter. It probably had more to do with our perimeter defense, which has been a persistent problem over the years

Like the Duke game to start our football season, it's just one game.
