Serious question:

Why would an atheist actively challenge Christians to question their faith?

Cuz it's a politics and religion board?

I'm not shouting at christians in the street. In fact I virtually never discuss religion ou
I'm questioning christian theology in the same way I would question a trump supporter.
Is there something wrong with making people questions their believe system? Religious or otherwise?
I understand the condescension part, I don't need another lecture on that.

That's a cop-out.

A cop out of what? I'm criticing religion on a politics and religion board. I freely admit that so what am I copping out of?
> Except here...a lot.
Yeah and? Do you ##### at Xtiger for posting about hillary a lot?
> Faith and politics are extremely different phenomena.
Congratulations; you're point on how that relates to my answer?
> Yes, when you come at them with snark and condescension.
I already addressed this. Now, aside from the snark and condescension what is the problem exactly. That's what I asked.
> Yes, you do.

Look, you looked like a huge assshole for the way you're presenting your arguments. You're ignoring that you questioned people's intellect due to their faith.
> > > Except here...a lot. > > Yeah and? Do you ##### at Xtiger for posting about > hillary a lot?
That's politics. Politics and religion are massively different phenomena. > > > Faith and politics are extremely different > phenomena. > > Congratulations; you're point on how that relates to > my answer?
See? Snark/ condescension again. Who the #### do you think you are? There are some extremely bright people here. Maybe you are too. But your tactics (snark, etc.) make you look like a child. > > > Yes, when you come at them with snark and > condescension. > > I already addressed this. That's at the crux of my argument here. Yet you choose to dismiss it.

That's fine. And no I don't think I did. Where did I call anyone stupid for being religious?
If i did then my bad; i don't think religious people are stupid. Happy?
> That's politics. Politics and religion are massively different phenomena.
Yes, they are. Doesn't change my analogy.
> See? Snark/ condescension again. Who the #### do you think you are? There are some extremely bright people here. Maybe you are too. But your tactics (snark, etc.) make you look like a child.
I suggest you untwist your panties or at least grow some thicker skin. You are all over my posts and i'm not twisting your arm to do so.
I'm sorry you don't like my approach but I really do not care ¯\_(?)_/¯

I didn't dismiss it. I admitted to being a snarky a$$hole. I'd like to discuss the meat of the topic .

I think you're over estimating yourself there a bit. A few videos and some internet banter is not going to cause any true Christian to question their faith.

"I think you're over estimating yourself there a bit. A few videos and some internet banter is not going to cause any true Christian to question their faith."
replace "christian" with any other religion and reread the sentence. What does it mean to you then?
What does "true" "insert religion here" mean? They can't all be right. You place "Christain" in that sentence as if it is above all other ideas and yet there is a severe lack of anything to back that up. That is the problem.

True Christian as opposed to, for example, someone that practices Christianity for the sake of getting votes ? I would say they are NOT a true Christian. See the simple difference ? I can't make it any simpler.

Wow, just wow. You can tell why I put Christian in a sentence ? You missed the point entirely. I could have put any religion in there and made the same point, but you've been arguing Christianity so I chose that one.
I was making the valid point that you are not "making people question" anything. You're not that effective, sorry.

Can't very well complain about it when they started the conversation.
The fact that they aren't arguing in good faith (if they indeed aren't) is no reason for you not to.

Proselytize?

FWIW, I'm agnostic. I just reject the condescension evident in the original post. I also reject his Islam/ Christianity analogy. Christians are FAR AND AWAY some of the most decent, moral people I've met. And I've never been proselytized to, if that's the way to say that. (I'm a little high) Full-on body-blowing Christians regarding their faith in a way that involves impugning their intellect is douchey at best, asssholish at a minimum.

I think you are missing the point a bit. You think there is something special about religion that is above criticism.
I can call trump supporter mouth-breathers all day and I wouldn't receive an ounce of the response I have gotten on this topic. It's simply a sensitive subject no matter how much of an A$$ I am being.
Both are similar in that they encompass someone's worldview.
> I also reject his Islam/ Christianity analogy. Christians are FAR AND AWAY some of the most decent, moral people I've met.
Rejecting something based on anecdote isn't the best argument. I'm sure there are some very decent moral muslims as well.

Your level of "assshattery" is what prompted me to respond to you.

You can't actually believe this, right?

I'm all ears buddy. Please tell me how one's political views are not a subset of their worldview?

You should be prepared to be questioned and challenged.
That's one of the main principles of being a believer in Christ.
He and his followers endured ridicule and doubt throughout the Good Book.

Ok but that same book also talks about incestuous rape, mass genocide and has objectively incorrect scientific statements such as us being created in current form.
I'm just not sure that's the best place to get your morality from.

Asking questions about the origin of the universe and why we live in it is the hallmark of the human existence. I personally don't care whether you choose religion or not but don't get mad because somebody a different opinion than you.
