That's because the ump was looking to the outfield and had already stepped into the base path.

Does the ACC go to the Salvation Army homeless shelter to get these idiots or do they get them from the Braile school of umpiring.

The incompetent ump even saw Purify fall and begin to return to 2nd then just turned his back and walked straight into the base path.

a bunch of baseball in my 68 years on this orb . . . and I’ve never seen an umpire so “out of position” that they collide with a base runner.

Inexcusable on his part . . . but no way to reverse the call . . . even though he obviously impeded the runner with his collision.
