Remember how fast and far Florida St. fell?

We are headed that way. 3 coaches and some painful years later they are back. I wonder if that will be our track , assuming we can get back to the CFP.

It really wasn't fast...but the parallels to what has been happening to us are strong.

Bobby Bowden kept his staff intact for a long, long time. Finally, those guys started getting hired away for head coaching jobs- Mark Richt, Brad Scott, Chuck Amato, etc.

And, Bowden fell into the mistake of the "family and friends" hiring policy, and remained overly loyal to those he hired, even when they proved to be incompetent. Ask any FSU fan old enough to remember Jeff Bowden as OC down there.

Things at FSU didn't suddenly hit rock bottom...it was a slide. And we are 3 years into our slide. I'm afraid Dabo has painted himself into a corner with his coaching hires. Clean house and you potentially lose guys to the portal. But he's got to recognize that change has to start, even if not all at once.

If I were Dabo, I'd start on the offensive side of the ball. I don't think I'd fire Riley...but I'd ask him, who do you have that you want to keep, and who would you like to go get? Because I doubt he was given that option when he signed on.

As far as bad hires and keeping on friends, but doing it at the speed of FSU when Jimbo bailed. So it’s the worst of both worlds.
