Hope no BODY calls them "ASTC" Appalachain State Teacher's College.....
Only thing I know about them is that I think they threw their former coach under the old Greyhound.

Coach Moore's contract was up. Our (now former) AD didn't handle the issue very well. Bottom line - some will say Coach Moore was thrown under the bus; some will say Charlie Cobb is a lying scoundrel; some will say Coach Moore should have left a few years before he did; some will say Charlie Cobb is a saint. The truth of the matter lies somewhere in the middle of all that.
Personally, I think it was time for Coach Moore, one of the finest coaches ever to coach the game, to retire. I think Charlie Cobb messed up the communication royally. It's never easy to make a transition from a legend to anyone else.

Usually it's yankees who mispronounce our name. Unlike the region of the country, Appalachia, which can be pronounced either app-uh-LATCH-ah or app-uh-LAY-cha (with the former being the preferred pronunciation), the university in Boone is only correctly pronounced one way.
app-uh-LATCH-in is THE correct pronunciation of the first word in Appalachian State University.
As for calling us ASTC, I doubt many would be horribly offended. The College of Education at App is huge and is one of the strongest in the southeast.
Our media notes list the following as incorrect references to Appalachian State University ASU (that's in Arizona) Appy State (that one will get you punched by some folks I know) Appy app-uh-LAY-chin
Ok, there's the short version on correct pronunciation of your upcoming opponent. Anyone who wants the full version of why app-uh-LAY-chin is incorrect with historical references to appropriate Spanish explorers can find me in IPTAY lot 10 Saturday morning ... and after the game.

posted the night before the game about being at Pixie and Bills, seeing the ESPN commentators, and giving them a napkin with the proper pronunciation of Clemson?
I thought it was one of the best ever posts.. but to top it, the commentator actually referenced it during the game and showed the cocktail napkin the fan had written on.
Anyone remember this or who it was?

Our starting QB played maybe 7 minutes. Leave him in an entire half and we will put up 50 points first half.

I'd still try to believe that we could win the game. That's just the way it works for me. I would bet on Clemson against the Broncos, Bears or Falcons but I'd still do my best to talk it up for us.
Yes, there's no way they know how much damage our team could do from watching the practice we held last weekend. There's no way they would expect what we could do to them if we put our best foot forward for four quarters.
When this season is over they'll look back and think this game was their best showing all year even if they lose by 25.
