Why in the world were your officials so stupid as to sign a long term hostage agreement? It's good for the ACC and terrible for you. There is no doubt in our minds you would be on the way to the SEC but now with that signature it is untelling what your fate will be. Whom signed off on that? Your chancellor? President? BOT's? What was their thinking?

Clemson will be absolutely fine in the unfolding landscape. We are an extremely valuable brand, and not going anywhere but forward, regardless of whom fills our schedule or who we're aligned with. If I were you I would be more concerned with trying to catch back up with Kentucky (lol) and not getting passed next by SCar in the SEC LEast hierarchy. My how the mighty have fallen.
As for the GOR, we opted for stability within the league's makeup, and today that's what we have. If conditions ahead warrant a dissolution or significant upheaval, we will have the number of programs needed to take appropriate action. Today, though, we have a position of strength through solidarity to operate from, unlike the Big XII and Pac. That will pay big dividends to us and the ACC's other top brands down the road.

I am not convinced it was a good move, as you say, for the schools to sign the grant of rights. We also took a bath with the ESPN network and money . We may very well have teams leave with us to escape and get into another conference, but Swofford did not do anyone any favors in the acc , and our not wanting more teams in the playoffs hurt us just as bad if not more. I hate to say it , but the sec taking us may be our saving grace , if they do indeed take us and others to compete with the big 10.

14 years ago when Tennessee and Clemson were looking for coaches, I’m glad our “officials” didn’t make decisions like Tennessee officials. Glad our football program hasn’t been like Tennessee football program in past 10 years.

They are making more $, but they do suck. Wonder how their fans feel about being in the Big10?

ddclemson is 100% correct.
Purely financial for Maryland.
Football program sucks, probably a little bit worse than before.
Basketball much worse than before.
Nobody in Maryland followed terps football before, now even fewer people follow Terps football.
I obviously the Big Ten made the move to secure the Baltimore Washington TV market, but I don’t think the terps realized that the Big Ten would hold home games for Ohio State Penn State Michigan and Michigan state in college park Maryland. These games are well over 50% visiting fans.
The support for Maryland football has dwindled since they entered the big10.

Their athletic department is also still struggling financially, even with the extra B1G funding that they left the ACC for. They had to borrow money from the general college fund to break even recently.
It was a pure financial play, nothing more - no consideration of the competitive consequences and regional isolation they invited in. Essentially they let the B1G come in and pimp them out for their media market, a role they seem content with. The problem they face now is there are no more opportunities to fail upward - they're maxed out.

Have never heard if they have paid the ACC exit fee. When they left I had thought they were operating in the red.
Had always thought they got tired of the NC bs that we all have endured throughout the years.

The ACC held onto their league payouts as a form of collection. Seems like the $50 Mil may have been negotiated down to $35M or so.

wildblulou hit the nail on the head, they let the B1G come in and pimp them out for their media market.
Take a look at the stands when OSU or PSU play at college park. All buckeye and penn state fans. These are home games for all the big ten alumni that live in the mid Atlantic. Terps sold their program and their stadium.

I bet if they were given the opportunity to rejoin the ACC they would do it. They have done nothing since leaving. Maryland was always a formidable opponent in most sports but they no longer are strong at any sport that I am aware of. I thought the addition of Syracuse to the league was a very good move by the ACC but they have been very disappointing.

I do not think the terps would move back to the acc if they had a chance and they moved for the money from the big 10 and it was and still is the right move. They have had good basketball but were never recently very good before they left the acc.

I remember when if I dated mention we should move to the SEC, I got callet Coot. ACC has sucked a long, long, time. Up until s few months ago, sunshine pumpers on here truly believed ACC was the superior football conference. I have said #### on the ACC ever since they lengthened our probation.
