Savannah was great!

Except for the excessive heat and humidity, we enjoyed our stay. It was our anniversary, and we did a lot of site seeing.
Some of our favorite stops for food:
Pirates House: Although it is really a tourist stop, we enjoyed the food and the tour of the house none the less. I had the pork loin with mashed potatoes and my wife had the honey glazed pecan chicken.
Zunzi's - South African sandwich shop. Pretty good. A little expensive. I had the conquistador and paid $17 for the sandwich. It was chicken with provolone and Zunzi sauce.
Lady and Son's - 100% a tourist trap. Food was okay. Served family style at the table. My wife had to have her some ooey gooey vanilla butter cake. The cheese biscuits were incredible.
Mrs. Wilkes dining room - Only open from 11-2pm. Get there early to get a seat. You sit with others and the food is country cooking served family style. Better than Lady and Son's.
Clary's Diner - Best breakfast I have had in years. The pancakes were amazing,
Sundae Cafe at Tybee Island - Small place, but great food. Wife had the shrimp nachos and she said it was excellent. I had the sirloin burger with homemade bacon and the burger was expensive at $16 but definitely worth it.
The Grey - In an old Greyhound bus station. The food was good. Neat place to eat. We both had the pork shoulder with mashed potatoes, and it was really good.
Tours: We did a ghost tour by Old Savannah Trolley called Ghosts and gravestones. It was a pretty decent tour, not really scary, but it did provide a lot of history on the city.
We took a tour of the Sorrell-Weed mansion, and it was good.
We did a tour of the Wormsloe historic site. It was nice but extremely hard to walk in the 96-degree heat.

You guys were busy! Glad you had a good time.
We live about 30 mins from Savannah, just over the border in SC. The humidity is oppressive in the summer. There's not much of a breeze and the air hangs like a wet-blanket.
We visited Clearwater FL 2 weeks ago and were like "this weather is a nice break from home"...lol.

Yes, the moment we stepped out of our air-conditioned vehicle or B&B the humidity took our breath away. Within minutes we were pouring sweat.

I worked in Savannah one summer. That humidity is something else. Felt weird outside especially at night.

If you get back down there, consider a tour of Bonaventure Cemetery.

Terrific recap. I’ll use some of that next time we go. Hopefully when it’s cooler too.

Also the riding tour on a bus was somewhat cool. We spent a lot of time at the really nice park downtown. Beautiful spot.

No Sly’s Sliders? Just a burger joint, but it is a staple for us. Along the lines of Boxcar Bettie’s in Charleston.

You pretty much nailed it. Right now, the Savannah heat is almost paralyzing. Looks like you hit the big names in the downtown tourist restaurants. You are spot on with the Lady and Son's. Glad yo got to go to Wormsloe. Great hiking trails on the property.
Did you make it to Ft. Pulaski or Skidaway State Park?
The late fall is the best time to visit when the temperatures get into the 60's and 70's.

I noticed no Lombardi Ice Cream. To be honest, just really good ice cream, so a miss is no biggie. Kinda hurts to pay as much for 2 scoops as you would for a half-gallon at the market.

If you are speaking of Leopolds, we did not want to wait an hour in line, so we skipped it.

Zunzi's is good but it's not like it was when it was owned by Johnny and Gabby, the ones that were the original owners. The original conquistador never had any cheese on it.

Sounds like a fun trip but Lady and Sons has been a tourist trap since the first day it opened.

@TattedCop I’m glad you and your wife enjoyed. Me and my ex did an anniversary trip down there in August, and I feel you on the humidity. It was rough.

No kidding!
My wife is from the Savannah area and she corroborates everything you're saying.
When you're (we're) having to visit FL in the summertime to escape the humidity you know its bad.
