Season over, how many P5 teams are knocking our doors for Coordinators this year?

Dec 31, 2022, 1:56 PM

End of season, we used to worry about which coach was taking interviews, getting offers, going to NFL, going to be the next HC somewhere, etc. Now we could only wish that some of our staff was being chased or being offered opportunities.

I think there is a problem with your staff when you don't have schools chasing them at end of season. Dabo and Eason are probably the only 2 coaches that could demand equal opportunities at other P5 schools.

If you don't even have G5 schools looking for your staff and they could maybe get D2 jobs for half or third of the money then there is an issue! They probably shouldn't be on the staff of an emerging or close to a Blue Blood school staff. If we had one or 2 on the staff that could be expected but when the entire staff is made up of D2 caliber coaches, how can we expect to compete at top level?

Good point. Stress free offseason as far as all our coaches go.

It's amazing that people take the time to TD a post but dont have any feedback to defend their TD. Go ahead and tell me where i am wrong in this statement. Tell me which coach besides Dabo and Eason that could get equal P5 jobs. Tell which coach could leave for better opportunities?

I tell you who, NONE! Our coaching staff is the weakest its been in Dabo's tenure. Dabo is a good coach and we have talent, but we don't have staff to develop or mould players like we used to. We need some staff changes if we want to be top1-5 team like we were.

Please back up your opinion with some facts. Not your ####### opinion who has never coached or recruited for a P5 school, but watches football and espn and thinks they are better than Dabo.

Dabo's program. His coaches, his players, his admin.

If you dont like it, move on.

The same # that has come after Brownell the past 13 years.

If they're smart, they'll feign interest. Dabo will fall for that, thinking even more highly of himself for promoting guys that haven't ever shown even mediocrity. They'll probably get raises.

Well, nobody is knocking down any doors for our coordinators but to be honest the most recent ones to depart have fallen flat on their face. J Scott fired. Elliot has the #123 offense in the country (beyond pathetic) and won 3 games. He will be terminated in 1-2 more years. Which brings us to coach V. Won't debate that he was likely better than Wes this year but his OU team was absolutely gashed in a 48-0 record setting loss to Texas and then Fla State lit him up for another 590 yards. And this comes on the heels of the #8 recruiting class in the country.
Just saying it really helps to be in the right place at the right time. Top talent and an ACC schedule makes for some great results. Put everyone on a level playing field and things can change. BV will get one more year and if it's 6-7 again he will be canned as well.
Morris seemed to be an impact coach who turned it around both at CU and then followed it at Houston. Rich Rod was the best turnaround artist that I have seen and he did it at Tulane, Clemson, and WVU before the wheels came off. Wish we had some cutting edge thinkers like these guys along the lines of a Hugh Freeze, Mike Leach, Steve Sark, and Lane Kiffin. And I mean as coordinators when they were on the rise prior to HC gigs. Have not given up on Wes but we need some new ideas on offense.

Mike Reed could go elsewhere. He and Eason are the only 2

assistants with potential offers. Even with corner play that left a lot to be desired this year.

Yep. If you can't coach up a bunch of 4 and 5 stars you probably shouldn't even be in the profession.
