It doesn't matter what ESPiN says or how many millions buy into their BS. The playoff committee will form their own poll at the end of October. That's the only one that matters.
I've been called naive for believing that the Coach's and media polls will not influence the selection committee's poll.
Yesterday on ESPiN's CFL the chair of that committee was interviewed. He said specifically that their poll and decisions would be based on data, "more data than they needed," to quote. They will meet on each and every Monday and Tuesday to discuss and debate the information and produce a poll of "THEIR," top 25.
Their first Poll will be published in late October. That leads an objective person to believe that the preseason polls have no bearing on their work.
Two teams from the same conference in the playoffs? Sure ESPiN, sure thing!

The writer follows the common misconception that everybody in the south is an SEC fan. What he said about the conference is true, but there are other teams in the south.
