I get that it's done a bit different now, but players transferring has always been part of college football. Even before we were this good, and even in the Tommy Bowden era, you could pretty much expect at least 2-3 guys to transfer in the offseason due to not getting enough playing time. The big difference was it was usually to a Division II team at that time due to a playing having to sit out a year if they went to a Division 1 team.

This is a huge loss for our team. Tre Lamar should have stayed too.

Not a huge loss. If he were a starter he would not be transferring. Looks like he is not good enough to get on the field at CU. Unfortunate but the way it is. Same goes for Feaster and anyone else that transfers. This isn’t CU from a few years ago. This is an elite football program that really is too deep. Good problem to have.

Wrong. It's a huge loss...it's called depth. Doesn't matter if he was going to start-- he would be a solid back-up. Very disappointed he waited until now to make this decision.

Wrong. He’s not seeing the field so he’s leaving.

I don’t think anyone knows why he’s leaving, so you’re making assumptions.
But he WAS a projected starter and got good feedback from Dabo & BV post spring including him being a team leader.
This is a huge loss. If you don’t understand that, I don’t know what to tell you.
Hope everything is okay with the young man/family/personal. That seems more likely to be the reason and not playing time.

That’s complete speculation, and the worst part about how people react to the transfer portal.
You have no clue what’s going on.

Looks like I’m not the only one that gets it. You seem to be in the minority on this one. Not me.

You could be right about it, IF that’s later released.
Where you and anyone else is completely WRONG is the knee jerk reaction and immediately jumping to “he’s not good enough to get playing time.”
That’s messed up. He’s a Clemson graduate and has handled this within the rules and values of our program.
Drives me crazy when the first reaction is essentially negative towards a Clemson player. It’s not right.

May be an assumption but I think it’s a pretty good one. Not being good enough to play at CU does not mean you’re not a good player. Truth is this program is elite with elite talent. I thank him god his commitment to the program and wish him well wherever he goes. Doesn’t change the fact he that he got passed by a better player. Good problem to have IMO.

Fair enough.
But when that’s your immediate response, it comes off negative towards the player. And that’s not fair to them.
That’s all I’m saying.

It really shows how little many fans actually care about the players themselves. They act like they care about the players when they're on the team, and all is well. They turn on those players really fast though as soon as they decide to make a decision that doesn't benefit Clemson.

He hasn't hit the field much in all the years he's been here. Clemson has tons of depth at that spot, just several need experience. We have 15-16 other Linebackers listed on our roster (can't remember if Chad Smith is done):
https://www.tigernet.com/2019-Clemson-Football-Roster
Jamie Skalski Mike Jones Jake Venables Bryton Contantin Vonta Bentley Juston Foster Kane Patterson Baylon Spector Logan Rudolph
...just to name a few. We'll be fine.

Rudolph is a DE

Constantin is a definite redshirt with a torn ACL True freshman LB’s are almost never ready to contribute year 1 Foster is a DE Chad Smith is still on the team
So that’s 4 net names off your list, depth is going to be an issue

Surprise because all offseason the coaches have stated he has stepped up as one of the leaders on the team. He may have been a second team guy but leadership qualities are extremely important to the success of the team.

When you have high rated and projected good players leaving, it shows how great the next group is and it keeps getting better.
Besides Smith and Feaster may realize the grass is not always greener than where they are now.
