So I saw below where someone was trying to discount our 101 plays,

because we "only" averaged 4.79 yards per play. 101 plays was the most ever by a Clemson offense.
So I went back and looked... when we beat Bama for our 1st championship under Dabo, we ran 99 plays. We averaged 5.16 yards per play.
I thought it was pretty interesting that we gained exactly 4.4 inches more per play in the 1st championship against Bama.
We went into the game with the intention of controlling rhe clock and limiting UT possessions. We did that very well and dominated time of possession. 10 of out first 11 possessions ended on theor side of the field, and I believe we had NINE possessions in the redzone.
The problem is UT hit three long passes against secondary breakdowns that resulted in TDs. They had one sustained possession.
Craziest stats I've seen in awhile.
And yes, of course we didnt score enough, but the overall point here is, we ran a great offensive gameplan to a "T"... minus the red zone concerns, obviously. Missing 3 FGs was one thing, but scoring only 14 points when dominating every facet of the game is hard to figure out.
It's also interesting to note we had 80 more yards of offense than UT was giving up per game on the season.
Not too shabby for the true freshman in a newly designed system. Looking forward to this scheme next year, with a more developed sophomore.

The loss was terrible but to act like there were zero bright spots is just disingenuous. Wasn’t perfect, we need a better gameplan, yes we lost but I saw flashes of our old offense for the first time in a long time. When this young core gets over that hurdle it’s going to be dangerous.

The really weird thing is, we were one of the best redzone teams in the entire country coming in. We'd have to almost try to not score to see that many 0 point possessions again.
I'm extremely excited to see where Cade and Street take this offense next year. Hopefully by then folks will be over this wild anomaly of a game.
