I think that's the correct decison

Pretty certain DJ still brings more to the offense despite the fact that he had a really bad day today. Cade hasn't really shown the ability to read a defense yet. I'm all for giving Cade some meaningful snaps in these next 4 games just to see, but he definitely hasn't looked quick or decisive throwing the ball in his limited action.

My issue is that DJU struggles, but Cade gets handcuffed

I certainly understand putting some limitations on Cade, but to put him out there without more options to succeed is tough. Glad he was able to 'steady the ship' and put the Tigers over the top for the win. IDK how to keep his confidence up if Dabo is going to put him on the yo-yo for the rest of the year, but he is definitely a HUGE part of the future at Clemson.

Full disclosure is that the QB leads drives because he receive the snap but our O line, Shipley and Mafah did the work. Cade came in and our look changed, our line took over and we just wore Syracuse down with the number of plays and time of possession.

The Line took over either because...

Cade's presence gave them energy or the Syracuse defense finally had to worry about both possibilities of the read-option.
Nobody defense is scared if DJ keeps the ball. Cade can take it to the house.
Regardless of the reason, Cade helps our running game.

Huge respect for the way Dabo, DJ, and Cade are responding to the success and adversity so far this season. Mature team-first players. However I have no respect and great disdain for the way many “fans” are responding to DJ even before his bad day. If that’s you and you’re not aware, it’s a really bad look to all the recruits on hand. Stay positive, cheer on the team, and remember most of us couldn’t handle that volume of criticism over our every decision.

I don't care who was going to start against ND... I did not like DJ taking the last snap... and nothing against DJ... I just feel like Cade more than earned the kneel down.

This team and fan base have no idea what Cade Klubnik is or can be. No time with the 1's and no time on the field. Clemson or another team will find out next year.

The coaches did what they felt we needed to do in order to win.

I think they did the right thing today. Putting in Cade paid off. He did really well! I’m proud of him.
With that said, I think it’s overly simplistic to blame DJ for our struggles. No, he didn’t play well, but how many other starters who don’t play well get benched?
I don’t remember Miles Murphy, Brian Bresee, Joseph Ngata, or other key starters getting benched the rest of the game when they have played poorly, but maybe I missed it. Instead, I recall them being treated with kid gloves and sent right back out there.
But I get it, QB is a really important (and very prominent) position that people pay extra close attention to.
I think the coaches are doing their best to assure everyone that DJ is the starter, but it feels overly scripted. Dabo made sure to say it as quickly as he could. While I admire them defending DJ, and hopefully not crushing his confidence, the real message was sent when they benched him and never put him back in.
I expect Dabo to get irritated when reporters keep asking him about the QB situation, but it’s a logical question after what happened today.

Were you watching the same game I was? DJ HAD to be benched. We were going up and down the field using power and lots of times when the ball was in DJ’s hands bad things happened. He had a direct hand in most of today’s struggles. 3 turnovers were on him. At that point, Dabo cannot give him another chance.
In fairness, I thought the game plan was not helping him. I think if we had Danny Ford today, we win EASILY. They had no answer for runs right up the middle. For the life of me, I do not understand why we didn’t just bludgeon them. Further, that is essentially what we did with Cade - hand it off and limit the risk. If we had done that with DJ, I don’t think the benching would have been required.

I agree with Dabo’s call here and am impressed by how DJ has handled everything.
Personally, I don’t think the scheme today put DJ in the best position to succeed.
DJ has a huge arm and they rarely pushed the ball downfield today.
He’s not immobile, but he needs to be utilized much less in the running game. Motion, jet sweeps, bubble screens…anything to help open it up for him. Slamming Shipley into the guards over and over brings the D up too much for DJ to run. He needs too much space to get going.

What I saw had nothing to do with scheme... DJ was about 1 1/2 seconds behind all day... on multiple plays we missed passes that would have been completed if they had been thrown a hair sooner... I thought this was the case with his first interception. That and never looking away from Ngata... a blind person saw that (late) pass coming...

Now the $64k question for Dabo … is how long will Dabo block Klubnick from being the starting QB , since DJ have 2 more years of eligibility after this season? We have just witnessed DJ’s ceiling and Klubnick will most likely hit the transfer if he’s not named the starter after game four next season.
