They Tried To Better The Helmets. Now They Need To Look At The Chest-plate ---

I believe extra padding thats able to take and deflect forceable contact in the chest-plate areas of the shoulder pads need to be looked into. A death-punch type of blow is not something that has a place in football whether its accidental or a deliberate high velocity type tackle.
Though the tragic situation that happened to Hamlin is a rare occurrence.....it definitely needs to be researched just like they researched types of head trauma results playing football.
I think about the younger kids who are out there just trying to play the game they love just for the fun of it. I hope they are going to take much bigger positive progressive steps to keep the game of football fun and most importantly..... safer.

If they really wanted to eliminate head trauma. Take their facemasks away. I bet they think twice about leading with any part of their head.

The safest thing to do for the players would be to get rid of all the gear. Look at Rugby. There is no helmets or pads and players play the game in a method which protects themselves. The helmets and pads give a false sense of security

If truth be told, which it won't, micro clots due to either having COVID or the COVID vax are the culprit.

LOL this has nothing to do with anything Covid related. This is a rare occurrence that has occurred way before covid was around.

Where's your medical degree from? They must have the best program in the nation for you to be able to diagnose Hamlin without ever actually seeing the patient or any medical history, data, etc.. from the patient.

So, let’s wait and see. Then solve a problem.

It wasn't a shot to the chest that caused his heart to stop. Go listen to Will Cains podcast and the doctor he interviewed instead of believing everything you are told. And no it's not about the vaccine.

So don't believe everything you're told but instead believe what a fox news podcast tells you? Got it.

Commotio cordis is not confirmed as the cause. He still needs to be screened for blood clots, missed congenital defects, pericardial cysts, etc... Given the rigorous physical examinations NFL players go through at the beginning of every season it's not necessarily likely any of those things were missed, but it's not impossible.
But generally speaking blunt force trauma has caused cardiac arrest on a football field before.

What happen to Damar Hamlin is a once in about 5 mil FB tackles, so how would the expense of another piece of safety equipment for that cause be necessary. IMO, better helmet that would prevent concussion would be a better investment. And then get rid of the targeting rule that not a Ref at any level of FB can figure out how it should be applied.

If the NCAA and college football are so concerned about targeting and other injuries, someone please explain why the OUTSIDE of the helmet is super hard plastic? With all the technology and NASA implementation of amazing insulation and coatings, why aren’t the helmets coated with a lightweight SOFT material. After all, football originated with relatively soft leather helmets. They just did have adequate knowledge of internal padding and support. With a padded helmet the defensive tackles and safeties could still make amazingly good tackles without the worry about targeting or hip pointers. The insulating coating could be small enough so the players wouldn’t look like space men. Anyway, why not soften the outside to prevent even more injuries?

I saw a cardiologist on tik tok taking live questions a few nights ago. He’s the 1st doctor I saw discussing Hamlin’s injury. He stated some of the same things I’ve heard from the other doctors since then. He said that this type of injury is so rare that it only occurs in 10-20 people per year in the entire World if it is indeed commotio cordis. I heard another say the same thing yesterday.
