Who thinks...

Ohio St. or Michigan shouldn't even be considered fit the CFP because they're not playing for a conference championship. I think that should be number 1 on the list of the CFP committee. You HAVE to be a conference champ to get in the playoffs. Anyone else think like this?

So if Penn State defeats Colorado then you think Penn State should get in over Ohio State and Michigan?? That makes no sense.

If Penn State defeats Colorado, then Penn State should 100% be in the playoff. I believe it would be the first time in sports history that one team had defeated another team without playing them. So yeh.......that'd be enough to convince me that Penn State should be in the playoff. Ohio State should also be in the playoff too though, because they defeated Penn State by losing to them. Bama has no good losses, so I'd eliminate them.

Tough argument I think OSU is playing at a level deserving of top 4. Conversely if you cannot win your conference, or heck, cannot win your division, you don't deserve it. And if PSU does win and when we win…then Pitt would have beaten the Big10 and ACC Champs.

^^^^ "I think OSU is playing at a level deserving of top 4."
The problem with that is that there are several teams that are playing "at a level deserving of top 4."
USC Michigan PSU Wisconsin Western Michigan (?) - undefeated, so why not let them in? Washington Colorado Oklahoma (?)
There are only FOUR slots. They can't all get in. We need to follow some type of criteria.
Here's a good one to start with: Conference champion of a P5 conference

Not necessarily, because what if you lost once and the team that replaced you in the conference game then won it was a 3 or 4 loss team ?

Agree 100% that they should not be considered for the CFP

as long as there are only 4 teams, and maybe even if there were 8. They do not deserve it.

Not with only four spots avail

I say that because with 4 spots, then being a champ should not be a requirement.
I wouldnt want the Gators in the playoff for two reasons 1) they would probably get crushed and 2) If they somehow did win the two games - that would suck to have them declared champion.
Also, no need to schedule anybody decent out of conference.

Absolutely, conference championships should only be second prestige wise to the NC. Might as well not even play the phucking conference championship games anymore. Talk is just talk...right? What I mean is, games arent won on paper or someones opinion on who will win or lose. Results on the field are how we know who won!!!! Sorry OSU, you didnt even make it to your conferences' championship game. Its ridiculous, Im sorry but this just isnt a good start to the new playoff system, just pick the best 4 teams out of the power 5. Well anyway lets see what happens this weekend, honestly, its possible this whole thing may very well work its self out. Maybe Colorado will beat Washington, maybe Wisconsin will beat Penn St. Stay tuned Tiger fans.

they should be considered, but......
Nov 30, 2016, 7:19 PM

a team should NOT be REWARDED for not being good enough to even win their division.
Clemson, Washington, Penn St, Wisconsin, and others have to PLAY a 13th game this weekend - a game that they WON the right to play in -- risking a potential loss and injuries to key players, while OSU and Michigan sit home eating popcorn because they LOST.
Heck, the media would have you believe that Urban Meyer can start game planning against Clemson this week, since his team is "locked in" already.
Clemson has to win an extra game, again, risking loss and injury, just for the right to play the second place Big 10 East finisher.
How is this fair using any sort of logic?

See, I think the CFP committee is using the eye test as far as Ohio St., and Michigan are concerned. They might as well revert back to the ol BCS system if that's the case. I think you at least have to win you conference to be in. Ohio St. doesn't have a game this week to prepare for. So they can rest players, game plan for their opponent in the first round of the playoff, and also they don't risk injury to any of their players. It's not fair to the other teams who play in a conference championship game. Whether or not they're better than Penn St. or not it's a moot point. They lost that game, so no play off spot for them.
