against us last year. What do you make of that? At the end of the day, no matter who you're playing, this is supposed to be fun.

Still can't get over Bowden pulling Reggie out of the game.
I'd still bet the house he would have scored the TD.

Yeah, but daddy returned the favor allowing Tommy to beat FSU after losing to Wake, and keeping his job a while longer. Anyone that did not think mama Bowden told daddy Bowden to let their baby win has their head up their butt.

From the kickoff, they just wanted the game over. The smaller schools HAVE to play these paycheck games to help balance the books. They came for a paycheck and to try to get out healthy.
Other schools, like Marshall or Troy, come for the paycheck, and to try get the win. Just different mind sets, but you make a good point.

Troy has played us tough as heck the last 2 visits. We didn't play well either time, but a lot of that had to do with the fight they brought to us.

That Troy team was worlds better than Kent St

Kent St finished 124th out of 130 FBS teams in Football Outsiders F/+ rankings last year. They were literally one of the worst FBS teams in the country and probably worse than many of the better FCS teams. Their approach to the game was fairly unprecedented, but their coach clearly wanted to shorten the game and get out with the paycheck and as few injuries as possible.
In comparison, Troy was 32nd last year and 53rd the year before when they gave us a scare. In other words, Troy has been considerably better than South Carolina the last two years.

I don't really blame them, they just wanted to get out without injuries I'm sure.
Would I want to play on a team like that? No way

I think there were several factors in that as well. Their HC just had a heart attack or something and was in the hospital or rehab so they had an interim coach. They had lost both of their starting QBs to injuries. If you recall they were having school student tryouts the week of our game. I think they had a WR play QB because he had played a little in HS. So they took one of their best WRs away to play QB and had only practiced at QB for two days. I think it was a matter of not knowing the plays and survival mode. I think they ended up with a winning record at the end of the season if I recall correctly.

I was too lazy to look it up. I knew they had won some and we had played 10 teams with winning records that year. I was thinking they were one of them.

Yeah, hope Furman actually does try to throw a couple of times.

Furman and Citadel usually show ready to play. Traditionally they give us all they’ve got. Wofford too.

You'd rather them have completed 5 of 40 passes and the clock never run?

They were looking for walk on OL the week before the game. That was the easiest spread I took all year. Clemson -40.5 if my memory serves me correctly.
