Clemson jumped in ESPN Power Rankings
ESPN's Power Rankings judged college football after Week 2 and Clemson maintained its spot after reaching .500 on Saturday. Clemson is No. 7 there despite a top-5 upset, as Oregon surged to No. 3 after winning 35-28 at Ohio State, which dropped to No. 11. Texas A&M dropped with a close win at Colora Read Update » |

They definitely want a Pac12 team in there. Oregon may deserve it, but ESPN and all of the networks want to make sure the nation gets involved.

There was a comment that we didn't score a TD in the UGA game. Well, neither did GA's offense. Then there's all this talk about SOS. The SEC is living on it's past, just as ACC basketball is living on its. There are 3 good teams in the SEC, and Alabama will have a cakewalk to the championship game. There's no chance, as there was in years past, that they will lose to LSU or Auburn, . Someone said Oklahoma needs to lose. Who do they play that can make that a possibility? My point is that trying to measure SOS in a conference today is not possible when there are maybe 8-10 teams in the nation that are loaded with talent, some that are pretty good most of the time, and others are just mediocre. That's also a good reason to expand the playoffs from 4 teams to 6,8, or 10. While I'm unloading, how about we declare N.D. ineligible for the playoffs until they get in a conference and win a conference championship game. Otherwise, they can continue to play in a playoff game with their players having played one less game than anyone else, thus getting more time to rest, prepare and heal. Just IMO.

The ESPN/CBS/Fox pundits have been floating the idea that Clemson does not get it unless they are undefeated for years now. The UGA loss (even though the game was evenly played except for one pick 6) gives them the ammunition that they needed to take that narrative and run with it. This is the cost of being in the ACC and tied to a horrible in-state rivalry opponent with their perceived weaknesses. We will need help and more help to overcome that loss and make the playoffs this year. OSU and TAM are evidence of this. I hope that the playoff selection committee sees the UGA loss for what it is and sees beyond the media bias when making selections. It is very possible that we will probably have to ditch our FCS games or our weaker non-conference games and add another SEC/ Big 10/ PAC opponent to make up for what most of the nation considers a weak conference schedule if we want to be sure that this does not happen in the future. That or leave the ACC which I have been totally in favor of for years.

Call me a crazy homer if you want to, but...

I can see UGA, UO, OU and Iowa all losing conference games this year.
UGA's defense is great but I just don't see them winning every game before losing to Alabama for the SEC championship. If they prove me wrong, oh well.
This is Oregon's most talented team ever. Mario Cristobal can recruit with the best of them but he's a mediocre coach. Maybe new OC Joe Moorhead keeps the offense flying like a duck the entire season and they earn a CFP spot.
OU just does not impress me because their defense doesn't seem to be any better. They will trip up along the way.
I won't bother explaining Iowa. Nobody believes in them except their insane, flea-infested fans.
Cincinnati has road games at IU and Notre Dame coming up. This will lose one or both.
If we win out and the offense gets its act together, I expect we'll be in the CFP.

To date we scored 3 points on UGA and beat a decent high school team. Exactly where in Power rankings we belong?

No the point is that no one pays homage to any loss we have like they do other teams…We lost to the #2 team in the country and they treat as if we lost to an unranked team.
Oregon will lose with that DT out and Flowe gone for the year…People forget Fresno St took them to the wire.
Iowa…will definitely lose.
Cincinnati will definitely lose.
And Ou will trip up vs OK st or KSt or something.
