Probably time for Tony to try a HC job. Duke is tough for anyone, except Spurrier.... UVA could be a good stop for him.
A smart man that realizes now that the players make him look good. You can do everything else right with planning and strategy, but your players have to execute! I wish him success staying or leaving. Clemson grad and gave 100% while coaching...

I think he realizes his stock is sliding in a negative direction. Better get it while someone still wants you

It sounds as if Dabo encouraged his coordinators to move on to head coaching positions so he could make some changes. I just don't understand why it took so long with BV.

why wouldn't he? A good boss wants his guys to move on to bigger and better things, then develop the next wave

I don't follow your logic.

He kept Coach Venables in the top 4 of $ paid to coordinators. He was the highest paid coordinator the last several years, making, I believe over $2,500,000 per year plus incentives. That was to KEEP him at Clemson. This does not square with your statement.
Personally, I am disappointed that he and Tony were ready to leave. Wfore a bowl game and in the past, they said they owed their focus to their players thru postseasons. What changed that principle?
Having said that, I loved what Coach Venables did for Clemson. I just don't respect the timing and way he left. I wish him all the best and would love for him to kick All of the SEC's tails! Coach Elliott can do MUCH better than Duke. Duke has scked and will continue to suck. UVA is a better job, but not by much. At UVA, 'ok' is the standard. He can do MUCH better than Duke. He should be be getting ready for Signing Day and getting ready for the bowl game. BOTH of these guys should be in great shape financially already, so pick your shots better. BV did that, but Jeff Scott hasn't done very well at USF. Tony would do well to pick a better school than UVA or Duke.
Best of luck to both and thanks for what they did for Clemson! ?

Nothing changed the principle... Elliott has not met with anyone in the past because he was a candidate but not the choice. Venebles turned down Auburn last year, but we did not hear him or his agent say that he wasn't meeting with anyone.
If you want a job, you interview when the job comes open. If you say wait until my season is over, they move on and hire someone else because that response to a prospective employer says that you are not interested...
Have you never applied for a job or conducted a recruiting search? If I come to talk to you about a job and your response is I can't talk to you for another month, you can call me but I will probably have moved on; these other programs have to do the same things as Clemson and need a HC in place to get them done...

Now the defense will be a hot mess with inexperienced coaches learning on the job too.
We’ve been embarrassed in our last 2 playoff appearances. We couldn’t muster an offense against LSU. We got woodshedded by Ohio state.
I’m cool with being a cheez it bowl team again if that’s what you all want ??????? I’m not in control of these things

Can’t think of any team in recent history that has lost defensive coordinator, offensive coordinator and athletic Director in the same season unless they were fired. Tough times ahead????

Good to have change. Glad to see BV get a chance at a place he knows. Great AD and support staff. TE would be great at VA. Another great AD and support.

I would love to see TE get the Virginia job. Fairly patient fanbase, talent already in place and if you hit the Tidewater area hard enough there is a lot of talent there. Duke, it's just too darn hard to get anything going there imo. Sure you can have a good year now and then, but it's brutal in the big picture.

He can talk to Roof all about what it's like coaching at Duke. 6-45 aside, I've never heard Ted say anything negative about his time there.

Sounds like UVA may go another direction. Duke would be a tough place to win. But money is money.

It certainly seems like DUKE (and Virginia) could come up with the funds to hire a Big Time, proven head coach to turn things around. Why would they hire a coordinator to do this?

BC Duke is like us in Basketball, FB isn't a top priority for them just as BBall isn't for Clemson. They just need someone to lead them through the motions with self respect, and keeping their FB program out of the news for doing the wrong things, just as we have with Brownell with our BB program!!!

I don’t see anything on UVA or Duke athletic sites that mention Elliott as coaching candidate although other coaches are mentioned.

How many teams has he "met" with over the years but hasn't landed the job? That speaks volumes to me. That and well his offense that looks anemic.
