Poor VT defender--the agony of "de face" and defeat.

… that shot was nowhere close to going in until it hit the VT player in the head.

We need to be MUCH better getting our shots on goal. We did a whole lot better in the last two games, but without the VT player’s help our SOG would have been just 33%… that’s way too low.

Part of the reason is likely poor shot selection but, as in the second goal yesterday, poor technical skills play a part (puzzling because Sylla is one of our more technical players).

Sylla had plenty of time to adjust his body to get the right shot on goal, but he was slightly ahead of the flight of the looping ball, swung too early, and hit the ball with the outside of his foot.

The shape of Ousmane’s body when he hit the ball was all wrong.. he should have been more horizontal to swing right through the ball. Being more vertical improves the chances of the ball hitting the goal even on a slightly missed hit because the ball will have a lower trajectory.

The ball was no where near going in, but luck intervened … the ball hit the defender and went in instead of going out the sideline (not even the endline.)

Lucky win, but a win is a win! GO TIGERS!!
