After seeing the spring game…
1. Is Cade our best shot to beat georgia?
2.If Cade struggles how long before Dabo gives someone else a real shot? Will it be similar to a DJ situation where it’s long overdue?

You are not considering the fact that we have a real OL coach now.

That's what I've been hearing, but didn't we have a real OC last year? Appears to take more than top notch coaches to be successful...

1. Yes, Cade is your best shot. This Pearman kid may turn out to be Peyton Manning but having him take his first snaps in Atlanta against Georgia is likely to be disastrous.
2. Clemson needs to finish in the top 12. Dabo sticks with Cade unless that begins to look unattainable.

Likely to be disastrous? Imo,there is no QB on Dabo's roster that could beat Georgia and that is not delusional. In addition, I see no way two ACC teams make the 12-Team playoff field.

I don't think we disagree about the QB situation. I just think asking Pearman to make his first start against UGA is disastrous for Clemson and more specifically, Pearman.
You may be right about the ACC. I assumed the conference finished better overall than it actually did. Last year FSU was the only top 12 team by selection week.

Not trying to say the ACC deserved more higher ranked teams, but the ACC record vs. the SEC in 2023 was 7-5.
Clemson beat South Carolina & Kentucky. Florida State beat LSU & Florida. Wake Forest beat Vanderbilt, Miami beat TAM, and UNC beat SC. On the flip side, Georgia beat Georgia Tech & FSU. Tennessee beat Virginia, Kentucky beat Louisville, and Ole Miss beat Georgia Tech. So three of your five wins came from your better teams feasting on our bottom dwellers.
The ACC did not distinguish themselves for sure, but perhaps the SEC was a bit overhyped as usual. Your good teams are very good, but that strength doesn’t manifest itself down the line as you folks are fond of believing.
Just a few facts to ponder for all you SEC #########.
Sorry for the hashtags. I didn’t know that #### was unacceptable language, nor did I think holes was improper. It was the kindest word I could think of to describe haughty SEC homers who get their jollies by coming to our board to sing their conference’s praises like it matters.

"As usual"?? LOL. That was the first time in 7 years the ACC had a winning record vs the SEC, and just the 3rd time in the last 20. See y'all in August.

Well, you guys are conference homers, but many of us on here are Clemson fans, not ACC homers. I just pointed to some facts because one of you cited last year’s conference performances.
Now if you want to go back in history a little ways, you can ask Nick Saban who will tell you we kicked his hashtag a couple of times on the biggest stage.

I agree. It does indeed matter. That’s why the SEC tends to have higher ranked teams than they deserve, and the ACC has fewer ranked teams than it deserves. Any sport.
The perception is that the SEC has great teams up and down the line that beat up on each other. Consequently, when they lose it’s one great team beating another, so if the game is close, they both move up.
In the ACC, the perception is they all suck, so if one team beats another in a close game, it’s look here, they struggle with sorry teams. They both fall.
Thus, that’s why I say the SEC is overhyped. It’s why when Clemson beats an Alabama twice and should have won three, it surprises everyone. It doesn’t fit the narrative.

And I’ll further stipulate that some day soon I would love to see the Tigers in the SEC. I know a lot on here don’t agree, but I think we fit better there. Plus, despite what you seem to perceive as my defense of the ACC, I hate this conference with a passion and have for 50* years.

If you're going to cite SEC wins over the bottom tier ACC schools, let's include that SC and Florida didn't even make a bowl game and Kentucky lost to Bama and UGA by a combined 100-34. A win is a win but those aren't exactly wins anyone should thump their chest about.

My point is you guys are the chest thumpers. I’m just responding to your idiocy. I agree the ACC sucked last year, a year in which they were 7-5 against the mighty SEC. So what does that say?
And btw, other dog boy, nice try at equivocation (look it up), but I wasn’t referring to ACC vs SEC head to head records when I used the term “overhyped.” I was referring to how SEC teams tend to get more highly ranked than they deserve in just about every sport (re: Florida baseball as the current example).
One more thing, Clemson beat the greatest team in NCAA history by a score of 44-16 iirc (someone please correct me if I’m wrong about that). Doesn’t that make us the greatest team in history by a long shot? I mean , if we’re going to talk history.

No, that was me who went back 20 years. I did so in response to your "as usual" comment to show how rare it is. But whatever. None of this will make much difference in the game this August, which is what the thread started about.

Equivocation again. The “as usual” refers to your being overhyped, not head to head conference records. As far as this August, I’m not making any prediction. Of course, I’m pulling for my Tigers, but Georgia has been the better team recently. If the Tigers want to change that, they will have to prove it on the field.
I think we’ll be better. I just hope it’s enough. You should be rightfully proud of the Dogs’ recent success.

Keep in mind that you were the one who first brought up head to head conference records.
No one overhypes the SEC. It's based on actual accomplishment over time (not each and every game/season, but on average more often than not), which is the way it should be. And no use of big words will change that.

Now you’re just a comedian. I brought up conference records to dispel the idiocy you and your compadre were spouting. As far as being ranked on accomplishment, thanks for making my point that you are indeed overhyped as a conference. You’re so much overhyped that you don’t see it.
I’ll add this. Georgia fans = coot fans in so many ways. I have known a lot of Carolina players over the years. One 4 year starter was a close friend of mine back in the day. I enjoyed shaking his hand at the paw after we beat them his senior year. I don’t know any Georgia players, but I had a nice long meeting with Vince Dooley a couple of years before he died. We reminisced about all the great Clemson/ Georgia games of the 70’s & 80’s. He shared some great stories about those games. I shared with him how those games shortened my life a few years, especially that 60 yard Butler FG that buckled my knees.
My point is that the SC players and coaches I have known as well as the one Georgia coach I knew were pretty good people. But the fans of both schools are a bunch of goll darned hashtags. Lol

I suppose the fact that the SEC as a conference has won over 80% of the CFP games they've played against teams from other conferences, while no other conference is over .500, has nothing to do with it.

Maybe you should stop denying reality. That's not a good look either. The SEC is hands down the most competitive football conference. Deal with it.

Cade can absolutely beat Georgia. Throw the spring game out the window. You have the full WR arsenal at cades disposal not just pieces of it. Wesco is going to be the take the top of the defense guy. He’s that missing piece. Randall is flashing Williams and Brown will produce stellato is going to be that clutch 3rd down guy. 3rd and 5 you go with stellato. Control the game with Mafah and cades legs but mix in the pass and keep Georgia guessing. And this will be a close game.

It was a spring game...which is a glorified practice. Mistakes and learning happens in practice and is corrected the next practice. Also in a practice I think alot of times uncommon gambles are made because it's not a W or a L. Cade will be fine.
