Talking with several fans from several schools at the hotel, the games , restaurants etc. none of them can fathom why we aren't ranked and are not already a lock for the NCAA tournament. They also are totally amazed that Coach Brownell is even facing any kind of flak at Clemson. He is well respected as a coach by everyone else.They also can't understand why we don't have more fans at the tournament. I told them our fans are more concerned with trying to watch a spring fb practice and then post criticism of BB.Any game we play here is essentially an AWAY game for us and it speaks to our fans idiocy of the importance of basketball. I LIKE FOOTBALL too folks but BASKETBALL IS A BIG DEAL !!

that not everyone has the luxury of driving to Greensboro for a Thursday night game at 9:30 PM? Some people actually have to get up and go to work Friday morning.
With respect to the criticism of CBB, while you are certainly entitled to your opinion, it is fair to say that any such disparagement is entirely justified based on thirteen years of largely mediocre results. The reason Clemson is NOT A LOCK for the NCAAT is because of four really bad losses (Chicken Central, Loyola-Chicago, Boston College and Louisville).

Every team ( unless you are totally elite) has bad losses over a 31 game schedule. It's not like fb. There are far more upsets in basketball sir.

The night we played them they were bringing back all their legendary players to honor them. The place was packed. They were fired up and shot the lights out. They would have beaten a lot of teams that night but of course you probably don't understand how that all works in basketball.

What you have done OR not have done in the past should not enter into the picture. This is the 2022-23 season and what the Tigers did in past years should NOT have any affect on the team that is now playing. Twenty plus wins playing in the ACC is a good season worthy of national recognition. Is there an undefeated team out there anywhere?

He has represented our university and basketball program with class from day one. He loves Clemson. He should be supported, not disrespected.
Despite you and others acting like he's underachieved, it's clear that the last half of his tenure has been superior to the first half. In other words, he has shown IMPROVEMENT in the program. His players show significant progress over the course of their Clemson careers. They play hard and represent Clemson well on and off the court.
So you can hope for better performance, but that doesn't warrant disrespecting the coach or the program.
And despite some people's best efforts to tear the program down on message boards, team morale is high. His players love him. The administration does too.

This is true - if he can keep some consistency of performance in the coming seasons, it will change Clemson MBB. It’s the consistency of the trajectory that will determine his tenure, not just flashes of brilliance.
Love what these guys are doing in the home stretch!

I don't normally post but I believe Dabo Said it best. A good team and coach win the games they are supposed to win. I don't personally have any issues with Brownell. However, it's very clear this team has much more talent than Louisville and we dropped that game to them before Tourney. Brownell is building something good with the players. Tommy bowden was also getting good players. It's when Dabo established consistency that Clemson took it up notch. Brownell has not done that. He needs to take that next step to remain here long term.

I hear you beat the drum for cbb now while he is on the good side of a win streak. Just be glad we are not playing a quad 4 team next. And imho the reason we are on the bubble is because of the incredibly consistent mediocrity that cbb has exhibited during his tenure at Clemson. The person I really feel sorry for is Neff because cbb is going to do just enough every year to keep his job and we will be on the bubble every year hoping we can skate into the tourney by the skin of our teeth. FYI fans like WINNERS they travel to support CONSISTENT WINNERS and give money for CHAMPIONSHIPS. cbb is a nice guy that has been here 13 years and won no ACC championships. I think he may have won 1 early season tourney but that is the sum of his winning.
If you take away the first year cbb coached Purnells players to the tourney - in 13 years at Clemson he has taken us to the same number of ncaa tourneys he took uncw to in 4 years (2).
Will be really interesting to see what Neff does if cbb gets in tourney and wins 2 games and someone else comes after him as coach.

This could change Clemson Basketball forever, depending on how well this group does this season.
If you were Neff and a couple teams come after him, do you empty the bank account or look for a great replacement?
It’s a tough position to be in. What would you do if you were Neff?

Very tired of ACC Tournament always being played at Greensboro and the pro Duke and UNC tv announcers for just about every game - venue needs to be on a rotation outside of North Carolina where the big four NC schools always have the advantage of more fans attending with shorter distances to travel. Why not include at least New York and Florida in a rotation for this Tournament as well! Would be healthier for all!
