Are you going to be ok with Clemson using the portal? I think a lot of fans on Tigernet have dug in to the anti portal stance along with Dabo. Those people may have a difficult time swallowing the crow that’s about to be served.

Myself, as much as I hate it,but because of the new landscape, I wish Dabo would just recruit 25 every year till it pans out. But that too goes against not yanking scholarships agenda.

I never had a problem with Dabo using the portal. I do agree with him that kicking a scholarship player, who’s done everything asked of them, to the curb because someone else is better isn’t right.
We have spots open this year, a bunch. I’m excited to see what happens.

PineLakeTiger® This isn't correct; especially as it relates to Dabo's supposed "anti-portal stance"!
1. You have to have open scholarships open in order to get the average portal player on your campus. Unless they want to come and pay their own way; you need an open scholarship.
So, if we all understand this part, we can move on.
2. With the Covid-Seniors or Super Seniors who haven't left the last few years holding on to roster spots/simultaneously as the portal was kicking off strong - what availability did Clemson/Dabo have to utilize the portal? Answer: they didn't. At one-point last year we were over two on scholarships and had to ask two to leave.
I can't speak for other Tigers fans - but I love the concept of using the portal to fill immediate holes on the roster! I think most Clemson fans are not: "anti-portal" as you suggested. Clemson however, is a place kids have been staying. And, Dabo isn't cut-throat enough to tell a kid who hasn't developed into a great FBS caliber player to "kick rocks". Kirby does. Nick does. Crying Ryan does. They do it to open spots so they can bring in players. Dabo hanging on to some integrity; isn't a bad thing. If you give a parent your word - it is supposed to mean something.
Now that many of the super seniors have left and we have these departures - we can use the portal like everyone else. That's the real deal. Dabo wants to win like most coaches.

I can’t disagree with anything you said. I did think for some reason there were scholarships available for the portal. I see after someone did the research, there isn’t. Or, there isn’t yet.
About Dabo not being cut throat. He hasn’t been up to this point. Not to my knowledge. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t change that. Players are leaving his program behind, why can’t he leave recruiting busts behind? ::looking at the offense::
Your words are noble. I agree with you. But integrity got him an offense that’s so bad he lost 4 games with maybe one of his 2 or 3 best defenses he’s fielded. That’s sad. I can tell he doesn’t like it at all.

We use the high school portal so why not the college one. If you can groom a 17 yr old to the ways of your program, you should be able to do the same to a 19 yr old.

I think he meant that it is time to steal every good player in every sport…..from Stanford. Including both of their swim teams and their pool.
