I remember at the beginning of the year Monte talking...

about all the defense shuffling he did to strengthen the infield. Everyone he moved around, with the exception of Pinder, is fielding at a worse percentage than they were last year. Once again, two mistakes on D in the 9th costs us a close game as it has all year. He terribly misjudged where these guys needed to be on D. On the flip side, at least he's helped the offense this year. If he could get someone to solely run the infield then we'd be in great shape.

I say we cut Monte a little slack. It takes time.

agree....in two years we will see a difference. there is already a big difference from last year. We've won more games and I think we are playing a lot better ball over all.

As far as someone running the infield,

I know Monte is responsible for all of it, but Bradley LeCroy coaches the infielders. Monte coaches the OFs as that is what he played collegiately and in his brief professional career. As for the moves, Weston Wilson is light years better at 2B than he was at third. SS has struggled at times for sure. 3B has been a wreck. The two lowest fielding percentages on the team are the two that have played the most over there. Best all around lineup (offense/defense) IMO is Williams at 3B and Cox at 1B.

typical TNET bullsheatt post by uninformed blowhard....

let's see, where to begin - well how about FACTS:
SS Eli White 2015 % - .934 Eli White 2016 % - .920
2B T Krieg/C Pind 2015 % - .968 Weston Wilson 2016 % - .966
3B Weston Wilson 2015 % - .850 A Ren/J Greene 2016 % - .861
1B Andrew Cox 2015 % - .986 A Cox/C Williams 2016 % - .981
These stats show each position is fielding basically as was thought.
Eli White hasn't been any more consistent in fielding this year than last - how exactly is that Monte's fault?
Wilson has switched positions, but in so doing has fielded better than last year personally, and has been basically the same as last year's position players at 2B (Krieger/Pinder).
At 3B, for all the hand-wringing over Adam Renwick and Jordan Greene this year, they have actually fielded the position better than Weston did last year.
And while the fielding has dropped slightly at 1B, that's only because Andrew Cox broke his foot this year forcing Monte to play a Catcher - Chris Williams - out of position there.
Further in significantly less chances (AB: 2130 vs. 1811) this year, the team is only 1 GDP short of what was turned on the defensive infield last year - with likely 10+ games stillest to play as well.
If anyone has truly "struggled" this year it's Chris Okey. His errors are up to 6 from 3 last year, and the Passed Balls are up to 8 from only 1 last year. Likely this is relative the greater weight he has had to carry on the team in batting and overall leadership, but also the much, much greater difficulty he's had to carry in leading a pitching staff that has struggled mightily compared to last year's squad.
I call bullsheatt on both your post and general attitude. Anything else, Coot?
