Still on the porch playing music too loud with excellent beer. As always will take this post down tomorrow as mine don't age well.

I was once a huge NFL fan since the days of Johnny Unitas. I lived for that as a teen.

I was living near Charlotte when we got a team - Panthers. I went to every game in the early years. The first season was played at Clemson as they had no stadium. I was at every game. It was fun.
I later worked security at some games.
$$ was needed to be invested to get decent seats.
I could get good seats as I had friends -- went to most games.
It was fun.

I lost interest. I remain a "rabid" college football fan, lost interest in pros. I have not watched a game in years. I kinda keep up with it on media, but don't have 4 hours to devote to game, not even a super bowl.

I am all in as to yall going crazy, hope some day I get the bug again.
There in nothing like this game in any sport in any country.

I will be pulling for Mr. Irrelevant. How fun is it that a kid no one wanted is now on the biggest stage?

Unitas dreamed about going to Notre Dame, but was deemed to skinny and turned away.

He got on at Louisville, not a football power back then. He was 6', 145 pounds. I had his bubble gum cards.
Unitas played safety, linebacker, and sometimes quarterback, also returned kicks and punts. They mostly lost and due to injury he missed many games.

he was drafted in the 9th round by the Pittsburgh Steelers and quickly releaed.

He borrowed gas money to go to a Baltimore Colts try out and got a job. He did some "mop-up" appearance against Detroit, going 0–2 with one interception.

The real QB broke his leg and Unitas was in.
His first pass was intercepted and returned for a touchdown. His next play resulted in a fumble.

Many years ago I remember reading some guy who siad, "All QBs are judged as to Unitas. Unitas is judged against no one.

I am pulling for this kid Purdy.

I understand he is not Unitas, but no one is that.

and yes Johnny was one of my favorites for those reasons and how beat up he looked after most games win or lose..

but that smile after a win, probably missing a tooth, was special.

Thx for outlining your agenda while sipping on a cool one but hope to hale it’s not a Buddy Lite!!

LOL,

I'm pretty much like You! Well said and thumbs up! I had season tickets the first year as Well. Was in Spartanburg at the time and went to practices etc. Met players and Coaches but lost interest in them with no drafting of Clemson players. Watch very little Pro football. It's on but I'm heading to bed. Will check the score tomorrow!
