Was it a mistake to put students in Top Deck?

By placing the Clemson students in th South Top Deck much of the energy supplied by the students has been lost. The students are separated from Tiger Band and the cheerleaders. Until this year I sat in the South Deck and people in the Top Decks are not as heavily involved in the game as those fans seated in the Lower Decks. I wish the students were seated on either side of the Hill and able to be more involved In the game action. When students are energetically involved in the game it helps other fans stayed involved by increasing and maintaining a higher energy level of noise and excitement in Death Valley. If it becomes necessary to have a second season of social distance seating I hope consideration is given to relocating the students back to the lower seating bowl. I think energy, noise, and excitement will be improved.

My section of the North deck is pretty vocal in a normal year.
I think distancing has settled the crowd somewhat. I noticed at HS graduation that parents actually waited until all names had been called to cheer, which had not been true at any other HS or college graduation I had attended in the past. Blending into the crowd tends to make people bolder.

"Blending into the crowd tends to make people bolder." I'm a little confused, because I've always thought and experienced that people "blending into the crowd" turned them into sheep. Perhaps sheep that "Baaa..." the loudest are those that collectively have something to "baaa" about? Tigers ROAR, they don't bleat like sheep, and that's as true in the top deck as it is in the lower deck!
(And dang, that scotch was good...!)
Go Tigers!!!

Whenever I'm in the upper deck I feel like I'm watching the fans in the lower deck watching the game.

Mostly "yes" but it depends on how many seats the left the students on the lower area. We always have, and will always need that energy there.

AND they should require students to be in those seats or lose out on future tickets. That way anyone else can buy day of.
And I agree....the energy is needed in the lower bowl.

Well I can think of one reason that policy will not change.
The students aren't there.
I can understand why the students aren't coming to sit in the upper deck, but it's hard to claim what an impact 2,000 students would have from the lower deck if we haven't seen even half of the student tickets filled this season.
The students provide an amazing energy for big games when there are 5,000 of them there!
It's a weird year and the school definitely chose more income over stadium atmosphere.

That's a real possibility but they can't prove it without showing up now.
Student attendance took a major hit when they took away block seating. There can certainly be no block seating right now.
I think if the students were in the lower deck with decent weather for the Miami game they would be able to provide some energy and make an impact on the atmosphere.
The question then would be, is it worth to have an empty spot in the lower deck for the other 5 home games just to get a better atmosphere for the Miami game?
I'm not betting on any of the other games drawing many students in the upper or lower deck this year.

It appears from my position across the way in the North Deck that the students are using their tickets. The South Deck seats @9,000 , but the students only receive @2,000 tickets. That’s @ 22% of the capacity of the South Deck. The athletic department could distribute more than 2,000 student tickets and still have plenty of room for social distancing.

Are the students the only tickets in TD South?

The last thing the University would want to have on TV would be to see a massed group of students that "don't care" about the virus with zero social distancing.

From the perspective of the virus, this is a good choice. As a football decision, it stinks. We have been to both home games and there is almost no energy in the stadium. Many long time fans are in the North upper deck, and without the students, it is painfully quiet. We are lucky to be near the band, which is always doing their thing no matter the score.
