Was it THAT bad? With all of these highly rated O-Line prospects showing up at

CU now...and all of the positive comments about Luke's coaching style...what does that say about the previous coach?
What/who is the next position coach that needs a house cleaning?

I'm not sure it was a case of things being "bad" so much as Matt Luke is a "great" coach. It's really that simple.

I think things really were “that bad” when we have to resort to passing to get a half a yard for a 1st down, etc, instead of lining up and whipping the man across from you. JMO, but great OL players say get on my hip and I’ll get you a yard. We’ve been missing that a lot, IMO.

Maybe not bad but average to elite is a big jump.

I’d say we’ve been very consistent at being average, or below average, on the OL for a long time.

Luke knows what he’s doing and that makes a big difference.
If there’s no significant improvement in our WRs this season, Tyler Grisham should be kicked to the curb.

Grisham saved his job by getting two studs to commit in this cycle and the big whiff on the o line is what cost Luke's predecessor his job. Recruiting is a big part of the job and a lack of player development is something other schools will use against us.

But if those two elite guys come in here and don’t develop… Then he still needs to go

Not sure about the twists and turns of recruiting but Luke probably eliminated the negative recruiting that we had been facing.

It WAS that bad. We saw it the last two seasons for sure, but was going on longer than that. Folks wanted to blame the QB, RB, WR, but all those troubles started with a horrible OL.

It is a great example of Dabo prioritizing culture and nice people over being experienced and highly qualified for the job.

It's easy to make the statement that Thomas should have never been hired after the fact. Dabo obviously thought he was ready to perform at a high level but was simply wrong. Nobody is immune to making the occasional mistake.

You can't say "hindsight is 20-20" when a ton of us were saying it at the time of the hire and over the past few years.

You may have been proven right (or correct), but your opinion was just an opinion, and not one thart Dabo was going to be persuaded by. For example a whole bunch of people said the same soert of thing about Dabo himself when he was hired. It is "hindisght is 20/20" for almost anyone who now claims they KNEW he'd be a good hire. The vast majority of us had no way of knowing.
Trying something, and it not working, doesn't make it a bad choice automatically. Trying something, and it working amazingly (ala Dabo's hire), doesn't (nessarily) make it a roadmap for future decisions.

A bunch of y’all questioned Wes’s promotion so it goes both ways

in a word: Grisham

He does deserve some credit for bringing in Wesco and Moore, so hopefully the 2 of them plus Williams, Browm, Stellato, and Turner can all make this wide receiving core better this year. But all 4 of those guys have had injury problems and are going to have to stay healthy if they're going to be of any help. Trying to project what Adam Randall will do is anybody's guess. Maybe he can play all season like he did in the Kentucky game. But it's at least as likely he'll just spend the whole season as a complete nonfactor the same way he did last year. I'd like to believe in Adam, but he's going to have to demonstrate a lot more consistency before we can actually trust him to play well going forward. As a longer shot, I also think Noble Johnson and Misun Kelley have also showed some potential, so we'll have to see how they develop this offseason and if they can get good enough to be legitimate contributors in this offense. But admittedly, they're going to be far enough down the depth chart that it will probably be an uphill battle for either of them to get into the rotation for regular playing time.
This wide receiver group has at least 4 guys who should all have the potential to be very good (Williams, Brown, Moore, Wesco) and 3 more who have shown flashes and could be good, but need to be more consistent (Stellato, Turner, Randall). I like these options at WR better than anything that's been here since 2020 by far. But once again, they're going to have to stay healthy, and that's been a problem for years now. Regardless, these receivers have got to play better this season than they have throughout this 3-year regression. I'm not sure if people have allowed themselves to see just how bad this offense has been over that span. It's not just mediocre or slightly subpar. It's been one of the worst in the entire FBS. That, by Clemson standards, is unacceptably bad and quite simply cannot continue if the Tigers have any notion of competing with elite teams in college football. It's not all their fault, but the wide receivers have been a major part of this disappointment. There have been a myriad of busted prospects, injuries, transfers, disappointments, and very few signs of promise.
The bottom line is this: I think Grisham should get this year to see if Moore and Wesco, and hopefully a healthier group of returning players, can improve things this season. But if this season ends up being another year like the last 3, Grisham has got to go. The receivers just cannot continue being as bad as they've been, especially not at Clemson where that's supposed to be one of the team's strengths. Especially not when we've just seen the drastic difference a new position coach (Matt Luke) can make on recruiting and development.
