Watched highlights of the softball Louisville series

Noticed some kind of bothersome things. I know that wild pitches and throws happen. It's part of the game. We've had more than we should, but again, it happens. What I noticed that bugged me, though, is how we responded. We had one hit (I forget who) and the runner went to first but Louisville overthrew it and the runner just kind of stood there like, "what do I do now?" before the 1st base coach sent her to second. She may could have made it to third if she'd reacted faster.

Another was a wild pitch by us where the infielders just kind of stood around, like they had no idea what to do or where to go, and 2 runs scored. One run in was pretty likely, but the other should have been pretty easily prevented. There was another play like that in the same inning where we had a bad infield throw, on a bunt, I think, and Louisville capitalized on our miscommunication and brought two in, when they should've only had one, if that.

Just seems like they don't know their assignments in terms of where to be, where to look first, and where to go when there's an error. Looked very undisciplined.

I haven't seen many games on TV or in person this year, but have y'all noticed this in other games, too? I get it happening sporadically, and hopefully that's all it is, but those two really jumped out at me.

Think I commented when it happened that I've never seen an in the park homerun off a bunt. Obviously it was due to multiple errors.

But you're right, it even happened in the Oklahoma post season game where we were lackadaisical and the runner stole home. We do seem to lack some of the fundamentals. Especially when we're a senior laden team.

That's usually learned in practice. Off season should be interesting. Especially with so many leaving.

I believe the rearrangement of the middle infield and moving Logoleo to 3B

hasn't worked. Maddie was solid at 2B and is now struggling a bit at SS. Brown belongs on the right side of the infield; she's not a second baseman. We were undoubtedly having problems on the left side of the infield, but it seems to be worse. Maddie, Logo, & Brown all look uncomfortable at their current position.

Regarding defending the bunt, the pitcher, catcher, or 3B has to throw the ball to the infield side of the bag. Softball and baseball need to incorporate 2 bags at 1B. RF has to back up the throw...incredible that they scored 2 runs on a sac bunt. On any fair ball, there is a spot that each fielder should be moving to; not standing around. Frankly, we've looked a little sloppy all year.

Heard some ridiculous stat and Im not sure I heard it exactly right, but softball has had 13 errors combined for the last week or the last 2 series but point being this infield has been sloppy with the ball at an alarming rate. Wish Rittman would go back to season starting infield with Maddie 2nd, Logoleo at SS, and Brown at 3rd. 1st is dependant on pitcher obviously. They were a more solid defensive team with that lineup.
