Our offense is the most boring in the country to watch; well maybe a tie with Iowa.

I said “boring to watch.” I stand by my statement.

Well yeah, but to say 51st, 10-1, and 8th is as boring as

130th, 7-4, and unranked are similar, that's not at all an objective opinion.
And too, we're 27th in points per game and Iowa is 123rd. Is that "boring" to you? 27th and 123rd are similar and in the same boat alone, according to you?
Get outta here man. You obviously don't have a factual leg to stand on regardless of how adamantly you say you stand by it.

Travis has been hurt often but it's because he plays with big heart. This is style of football Norvell plays, fast and aggressive. You know, we used to play that way when Chad came on board, but we continued to play that way for couple years after he left because Elliott and Scott used his playbook and philosophy. 2yrs later you could see a change to slow and losing creative ways. But once Scott left it regressed a lot and the next couple years with our talent, seems like we always just played not to lose. CTE knew our DC had the ability to stop the opponent.
From there, we have had zero growth in ingenuity in our offense. We got used to winning with better athletes. Now we struggle with better athletes as we have zero ingenuity, we play straight up simple offense. Our QB isn't going to shock any DC. We are going to continue to struggle to be elite if we don't change our current philosophy. We will not have style points as we play now.

What's elite? Final four??

It's awfully tough to attain that every single year, even for teams like Alabama.
And no, it has nothing to do with philosophy. We're calling plays based on capabilities, period.
It ALL starts with the QB. Through great coaching, we've found a way to win 10 for the 12th year in a row, with a top 10 finish and possible playoff on the horizon. Beat Notre Dame, and we're already in the top 4 and probably playoff bound, assuming that's ALL that you consider elite. That's an amazing feat considering our major offensive weakness. Thinking you must go to the playoffs EVERY single year is very unreasonable.

Norvell is a offensive tactical guru, really good playcaller

That TE drag was a really nice play call.

We'd have more explosive plays if

we had a QB who could execute them. Travis uses his mobility to buy time in the pocket and create big plays, plus he's not afraid to give his receivers a chance.
It's not like we don't have a gazillion chunk plays in the playbook. It's that we had to scale the playbook back to give the QB plays that's he more capable of executing.
It ALL starts with the QB.
The very fact we're 10-1 and 8th, despite execution issues and a lack of big plays, speaks volumes about the coaching.
Give our offense Travis and things are dramatically different. I like DJ, really do, but he is really limiting our offense as far as opening it up.

The offensive coordinator (Streeter) is the biggest thing "limiting our offense as far as opening it up"...

Alex Atkins is technically the OC.

He's the OL coach. Came to FSU this year from Charlotte. He's doing a great job. OL is drastically improved from week 1. (Still has a long way to go, but it is performing over its head. Needs more talent.) Players love Atkins. He is generally accepted as the best recruiter (some would say only good recruiter) on the staff.
But, in reality, Norvell is the OC. He calls the plays. He and Atkins develop the game plan, which means Norvell tells Atkins what the game plan is.
Norvell's strength is his ability to devise plays and call plays that put the players in position to succeed. Quite frankly, I am amazed that our rushing stats are so good. If you notice when we get inside the two yard line and just need to road grade our way into the endzone, we can't. We have to go to some sort of finesse blocking, not power blocking.
As he and Atkins recruit better talent, the offense should get even better.

It was a fun game to watch. Our offense used to be like yours to an extent but we have a limitation…an elephant in the room.
