We have a coaching deficit…

Sep 10, 2022, 6:28 PM

Absolutely love Dabo. We’re winning on superior talent. Offensive coaching has been slipping rapidly since 2018. Defensive coaching is now following.

Sad to see Furman having WRs wide open and pushing us back on 3rd and short.

When you have one of the greatest offensive minds on staff in Tony Elliott and greatest defensive minds in Brent Venables.

Is it a little insulting to Brett thinking that his replacement, someone who had never been a defensive coordinator anywhere, would have zero dropoff?

Elliott was not a great offensive mind. He had superior talent. He and Scott seemed to make a good team, but mostly we just had better players.

Venables was a fantastic DC. Goodwin has a long way to go. Apparently being a genius at breaking down film doesn’t automatically make you a great DC.

Weird, you’ve been on record here bashing TE.

How the hell is Elliott one of the greatest offensive minds? He wasn't top 30 in the FBS. Agreed on Venables though.

Elliott's offensive was ranked 114 last season

Not sure that considers him amongst the greatest.

Offensive coaching has never been that good. We just out-

talented other teams with superman QBs and amazingly good skill players. (ETN for example.) QBs regress on the fundamentals while here, WRs run sloppy routes, etc.

It's the Jimmys and Joes at Clemson, not the Xs and Os.

This is the worst looking Clemson offense since before Tommy Bowden.
