They finally sent planes up to the the last couple objects to get good descriptions of exactly what they looked like before shooting them down. The planes were going too fast to give a good description. In fact the descriptions given by the two pilots conflicted with each other and were therefore useless. What kind of leadership, militarily and otherwise, do we have in this situation.

I just repeated what spokesmen just reported. That's what I know. I know it is stupid to send F-16s up to get descriptions. of objects and have them flying so fast that is impossible to get a description of an object that is hardly moving. It is not like another plane that you can fly along side and relay down a description. The very idea is dumb.

Why are you so concerned over this? Maybe things are going on that our leaders don’t feel you should know or have a need to know. You seem like the kind who would blab a secret to the whole world.

I watched the whole press conference and was just dumbfounded at the incompetence of the most sophisticated and powerful military in the world.

This Secretary of defense read every word of the report someone had written for him and at times even had trouble reading it.

Current "Pentagon officials"?
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
“I was in the administration for every single day that Trump was in office on the national security team,” said Keith Kellogg, who served on the Trump White House National Security Council before taking over as national security adviser to then-Vice President Mike Pence in 2018.
“During that time this never ever came up,” he added. “So for them to say it happened during the Trump administration, we weren’t aware of it and we would’ve taken immediate action. If it did happen under President Trump and he was not told, that’s more than just egregious, that’s a dereliction of duty.”
A senior Pentagon official told reporters last week that Chinese government surveillance balloons hovered over the continental U.S. “at least three times” during the Trump administration, and one additional time at the beginning of the Biden administration.
Those three incursions were for shorter periods of time than the balloon that caused a major international incident last week after it was spotted over Montana before floating across parts of the country and ultimately being shot down near the South Carolina coast.
Since that disclosure, a slew of former Trump administration officials who worked in the intelligence community have uniformly said they were unaware of Chinese spy balloons hovering over the U.S. at any point during the last administration.
“I don’t ever recall somebody coming into my office or reading anything that the Chinese had a surveillance balloon above the United States,” Mark Esper, who served as Defense secretary from July 2019 through November 2020, said on CNN last week."
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Please forget about your opinion of Donald Trump for a minute and ponder this: Did you see a big-azz balloon carrying a payload the size of a couple of Greyhounds flying over your house during the Trump administration? Ever remember anyone else talking about ANYTHING REMOTELY CLOSE TO THAT happening during the Trump administration? Why not? According to the "Pentagon official" (who was conveniently unnamed), it was happening on a regular basis. Now we're shooting them down over the Yukon.
Who do you really trust to protect this country from an attempt to conduct the sort of closer range surveillance on our SAC sites, or try to listen in on sensitive comm traffic at our military bases (which is much harder to do from an orbital satellite), or something more sinister like dropping a few canisters of the latest batch from the lab at Wuhan? Donald Trump or Joe Biden? At this point in history is it possible that you could be so uninformed that you don't understand the Chinese OWN the Bidens and half of the inside-the-beltway crowd?
