perfectly round about as big as golf balls? I think there is a crow’s nest along my driveway and somewhere between 12 & 18 shells have collected close to it since this morning- I figure the adult crows brought them in for babies to eat their contents? Turned this one over so the hole doesn’t show.

Thought about that but didn't think a crow could find them buried in the ground and aren't turtle eggs kind of rubbery? These are brittle (or at least I thought so). Also wondered if they could be from a water bird like an egret.

they are laid, depending on species. I happened on a turtle laying eggs once. The eggs would drop several inches into the hole dug by the turtle. They would even bounce a little.
But, just to repeat, turtle eggs harden after they get laid

Looks very similar to a Snowy Egret egg. Crows are notorious for raiding other bird’s nests and stealing the eggs. Are you near a habitat where egrets could be nesting?

the entire staff ( cooks and all) went to The Old Schoolhouse restaurant which was opening in Chappells across the river. Same menu for the most part and we go there at least a couple of times a month.

Ok, so the eggs are perfectly round with hard shells. After further review, I’m changing my guess to turtle eggs. Egret eggs are not perfectly round but turtle eggs are. There are 2 species of indigenous turtles in your area that lay eggs with hard shells. Mud Turtles and Soft Shell Turtles. Since you had so many eggs spread around, I’m guessing a raccoon unearthed one or several turtle nests and the crows swooped in and grabbed the leftovers. Just a guess.

I believe that is from the Ping Pong bird. I had several courses in Wildlife and I know some smoke about birds!

As good a guess as any - I figured that would be at least a little dirty if they had been buried - these are very clean.

by my driveway yesterday - had to be carried in by crows - dropped in the same spot from a tree which has a nest in it.No nest in the tree above.... also had one blue egg shell the size of a robin's egg in the bunch.
