What's the real problem?

The true issue with this team is the lack of explosive plays/playmakers on the offensive side of the ball
There's not anyone on the offensive side that scares a team downfield. We have no homerun threat and we've yet to just decide to go "smash mouth" and play ball control. Seems like Mafah would be suited for that and Shipley is perfectly capable of carrying a bigger load. Of course, not having turnovers in the redzone would help tremendously as well as stop giving up points on pick 6s and scoop and score (or almost score)
Getting better at QB is first and foremost. Certainly he's still young and can improve - time will tell
I think there will be some staff changes in the offseason, but I also don't see any rationale for making drastic changes on the defensive side of the ball. Things aren't perfect on that side, but they've been good enough to win every game this season if we're being honest.

The first problem is turnovers and the magnitude of their impact - our turnovers have been devastating. Almost all of them directly lead to points off the board for Clemson or immediate points score for the opponent.
The second problem is red zone offense. We are top 10 or so in the country at getting in the red zone. If we were scoring at an average pace on those possessions, we'd have maybe lost 1 game max.

it's difficult to say for sure, honestly if it's the symptom or the actual problem.
I just think transfer portal, NIL, etc are "low hanging fruit" for people to complain about because we hate losing and it's easy to pick on
but when you look at the overall (supposed talent from the **'s they got coming out of HS) talent, NIL or transfer portal wouldn't have fixed it?
sometimes players don't pan out and sometimes its a lack of player development...again I'd say it's a combo
The nucleus of the D is strong and young...recruiting on that side has been solid if not outstanding.
God to get more explosive on offense, got to stop turning the ball over in the redzones (both ends)

Turnovers are also problems. Symptom is not carrying the ball correctly and both have been here a few years so it’s not like they do not understand how to secure the ball.

The turnovers have been unreal. Never remember a Clemson team with this many TO’s, but for me
it all starts in the trenches and it’s not happening on either side of the ball. Great players on the D-line but not causing as much disruption as you would think this group would. Like to see Mafah and 1 more physical back emerge. I believe Thomas came in for 1 play if I’m not mistaken. Team abandons the run too quick but maybe they have no choice. Kicking is another issue. How in the world does it get to the point where you have to worry about a fg from any distance. Can’t wrap my mind around it.

YES!
the turnover issue, especially at or near the goal line is unbelievable...
missing very makeable fg's (one game winner which would have been huge)
the offensive line may be part of the reason there isn't a move to go more "smash mouth" because they just aren't getting that kind of a push up front

As for your playmaker analysis, I have been wondering if Cade Turner had stayed healthy if this would have made a difference in our downfield passing game.

yes, I think that definitely hurt because he was the only receiver that showed any ability to stretch the defense

At this point I would just run 2 TE’s, Mafah at fullback and whomever they feel is ready at tailback in the I.
Stellato as the one wide out.
That’s 3 more potential blockers to help out this OL and takes the pressure off our QB.

the grandiose Tiger Walk. Many of those trees were friends of the Tree Ents, and those venerable giants have unleashed the River of Bad Karma on Clemson. Damage is done, let us just hope they are satisfied with only one terrible season as retribution.
