Dabo would just talk about how successful we have been in the past, and ridicule anyone who doubts him as a bandwagon fan.

I'm sure he would, but at least he would be forced to say so on record in response to a very direct question. It's the media's job to ask those tough questions that we as fans can't.

I agree, it would be nice if the media felt that they were allowed to ask.***

It wouldn't accomplish anything.
Does anyone, half through a season, expect him to say, "you know I have been asking myself the same questions. Some of the guys I have hired just plain suck. I can't wait until the end of the season so I can let a few of them go."
At best you might get, "we are all held to a certain standard here including me. Just like I am evaluated at the end of the year, I evaluate my coaches at the end of each year. No one has a lifetime contract."

he would say something like " if 12 seasons of 10 wins in a row is a friends and family plan 6 playoffs in a row 2 championships 7 out of 8 acc championships, i mean hey where do i sign up"
he uses the past as a way to manipulate and deflect about the present and future.
Kind of how any US president keeps reaching into the past as to why the united sates can never fail or is too big and powerful to fail. past glory is not indicative of future or present condition, it's just a logical fallacy.

Are we all not guilty of (at times) hiring trusted friends and certain family because we have known them for years? We know their character, work ethic, and we know them as people we can depend upon.
If there were mistakes made I think it was because certain coordinators left before planned. And, many raided the cookie jar of other staff members when they left.
It takes time to get the right people...the right team. Sadly, when you have success the staff is plucked again by universities that want to be like Clemson.
I hope we never see the day when the staff is comprised of leftover/re-run ex-head coaches that failed in other places either because they did not win, were caught breaking the rules, or had ethical issues.
I understand promoting from within. Let's face it...not every successful position coach wants to come coach at Clemson. And what's the point of hiring someone that will give you 1-2 years before they leave, and take a number of your staff and players with them?
You have to give your people a shot. And if they don't perform, you move them out in favor of giving someone else a shot.
I am thankful people gave me a shot along the way.

This explanation is entire too Disney for me. Dabo makes $10 million a year to do things in such a way as to benefit the University, not himself, the most. And he hasn't been doing that at least not the past 3 years.

Hopefully none since it’s a stupid, easily refuted question. Unless you know Garrett Riley’s Friends and Family connection. You really are just a bunch of entitled snowflakes.

pretty good with Scott and Elliott. Horing and firing is not a perfect science, as I'm sure you know.

I think that’s the wrong questions to ask… if we were still making playoffs then they were great hires and worked out. He earned the right to do it his way and try… the bigger question is now that we see it’s obviously a part of the problem is he willing to admit it was a failure and fix it. I don’t think we should question the hires when they occurred bc imo he earned that decision to do those things even though hindsight obviously says we should have hired proven guys… they very easily could have worked out though. I think he knows there are issues (atleast I hope he does) and will fix them just like he attempted with streeter.

Except he makes too much money to not have the hindsight from the get go. Also, once his inner circle all get rich, it won't matter if they are "let go" because they will all be fat and happy. Have you ever had a job that paid so much that you didn't care if you were let go? Me neither, but that is Dabo's staff at this very moment, each and every one of them.

The first part of that makes no sense … you think he hired the guys thinking they would fail ? Lol no, he was trying his attempt at a “Clemson/Dabo” coaching tree and no one second guessed it at the time bc of what he had accomplished the previous 10 years … but now that we see without once (or twice for us) in a lifetime type players in Trevor and DW (I’d throw Travis In that convo too) you need actual good coaches to recruit and develop which I think is where we lack…. So that’s why I say it’s time for him to prove to everyone even though he would never come out and say it , that his way failed and we need a lot more proven positional coaches. And I doubt we see a complete over haul but maybe one or two guys get let go…. I always thought it was very weird that we brought in Riley and just expected him to mesh with the same coaches that had been around , like he didn’t bring in anyone that he trusted with his system and ideas.
