Who steps in to clean up all this football mess ? Clearly

not the NCAA.

Some new ruling / governing body ? How long will that take ?

The only thing that seems to make any sense is University Presidents stepping up saying - Enough is Enough . . . we are SUPPOSED to be some kinda institution of higher ideals & purpose . . . right ? ? lol . . . .

And they are going to police the 20-times over golden goose that provides for their jets & vacations & all the lavish perks they get - as provided by big boy football ? ? ?

I don't see that happening.

So who does it ? ?

I join lots of others in starting to feel like I am losing lots of interest in college football because of the insane money grab.

The same way I have with MLB and the NFL, etc.

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

It’s going to have to be the commissioners at some point, but as long as they are padding their pockets with all the money from ESPN and a few other networks I think they will stick to the status quo.

I honestly do not see it changing. It was a slippery slope when the NIL was introduced and now it has become a joke.

But some folks thought this was the way to go including some posters on here. So here we are.

I’m afraid Clemson will get left behind even if Dabo was using the portal. No salary caps. The people that have the most money will win. It’s really that simple.

Hate to think I would not be interested in college football but I could care less about any other team but Clemson and Furman but they are obviously not as affected as an FBS school.

I thought that - but they are as dirty as ALL politicians -

these commissioners are living like the fattest of cats and they do VERY little.

They aren't going to kill THEIR Golden Goose either.

They are probably a better hope because there are less of them than University Presidents . . .

But the fattest of conferences are going to be VERY slow to SEE the problem, much less DO anything about it . . . . looking at you, secheat

If this is true, that the biggest budgets win, then why aren't those schools doing better? It may just take more time for the money and recruits to roll in, but money has always been greater at some schools and it should have given them an advantage in recruiting and in hiring additional analysts and off-the-field coaches and support staffers.

If that was the case, then UT-Austin would be in the championship mix every year. aTm and UCLA would be in the mix. They're not and I doubt their plight changes. There are also factors like quality coaches, authenticity, and producing more than an athlete that are factors.

South Carolina should be doing laps around Clemson with the advantage of SEC funds, but they're not - and only a few SEC ($$$) schools are looking better on the field than Clemson, even when we're not at our best. The sky is not falling. I'm looking forward to a new season with a QB who can throw the ball downfield. We haven't experienced that the past two years and things are looking up (and I bet the receivers and OC will miraculously look better next year when Cade is running the offense)! Go Tigers!

It will take 3 or 4 years as this is all new and developing.

I honestly feel like the NFL is going to have to assign a "minor league" commissioner and at that point the top 35-40 programs will split apart from the NCAA

The NCAA just hired a new guy at the top. I have about 1% faith in anything being accomplished through him/them.

What mess. We had great games all through the past season, great Bowl games and 2 unbelievable Playoff games. Stop trying to be Trump and make up fake news.

9mil to a QB who then flips for 13mil and is now grandstanding because he may not be getting "what he was promised" . . . .

And this is just THE ONE that is out in the open. I'm sure there are dozens, even hundreds, of others.

Enjoy the sand you have your head stuck in.

I vote for the Brawny guy followed by Mr Clean a close second. The Brawny guy just seems to have more class and style. I love Mr Cleans magic erasers but not sure he can get the job done as well.

UR asking those that created this mess to fix it?

Jan 12, 2023, 4:09 PM

They (NCAA/ conferences/university presidents/head coaches/everyone with a powerful seat at the table) are responsible for not having a plan or any guidelines to regulate or standardize NIL rules in the decade we had to plan for it. It is not rocket science to have realized that the Universities making millions off the Deshauns and Trevors of the college football world, while the student athlete got nothing, was unjustifiable and wrong. Everybody involved knew it was coming. But they somehow decided that the resulting race to buy the best kids should be done without guard rails. The race is now a demolition derby. ### did they think would happen? It is, IMO, the fault of those at the top of every power broker with a vested interest in college football.
