Who would we get if Brownell is Fired

If Brownell gets fired at the season end? Who do we get?
Bob Huggins but he’s had issues with DUI but has a great record. Would Neff make a call?
Dusty May FAU? Not sure if he wants to leave FAU.
What is everyone thinking?

It would not matter. Any decent coach could do no worse and the potential to do better would be there.BB HAS NO POTENTIAL TO DO BETTER.
Me, I like the Furman coach.

Agree Coach B has hit his ceiling or is snakebit. But it can be worse. We’ve been worse.

NBA Guys (no college experience) Adrian Griffin Sam Cassell Kevin Young Jordi Fernandez
These are some of the top assistants in the game and have been passed over a few times. Griffin was actually fired midseason after leading the Milwaukee Bucks to a 30-13 record.
Cassell and Young are here because they might be tired of waiting for an NBA gig. Just know that if success comes right away, they might jump for a premium pro gig.
Jordi Fernandez has great developmental experience, recently led Team Canada in FIBA to a bronze and is rising up the ranks.
NBA guys (college head coaching experience) Eric Musselman, Arkansas Kevin Ollie, Fmr UConn Jerry Stackhouse, Vandy
A list of mostly retreads, but you need to interview at least a couple of them because just out of due dilligence.
NBA guys (college assistant experience) Chris Quinn, Miami Heat (Northwestern) Charles Lee, Milwaukee Bucks (Bucknell) Brian Keefe, BKN Nets (South Florida & Bryant) Jerome Allen, Detroit Pistons (Penn Head Coach)
This is the money list if you want to make a splash and you want to have an outside shot at a guy that will be here for 15-20 years. All have college experience and might rather the college route with stability than a 4-5 year rebuilding job in a small market NBA town.
College Up and Comers
Pat Kelsey, CofC Niko Medved, Colorado St Bob Ritchie, Furman Speedy Claxton, Hofstra Darian DeVries, Drake Danny Sprinkle, Utah State Takayo Siddle, UNCW
My strategy would be pluck a youngish NBA guy, they can connect with parents (many of whom will know their name even if the kids dont) and connect with kids who want to play basketball professionally. Many of these guys started off in Player Development so they have an eye for talent and most important will help guys get better. They know what it takes.
I'm generally weary of the up and coming college guys, because many dont seem to be able to replicate their success at the Power 5 level. We've been down this road before, but some of these names are too good to pass up.
My Personal Top 10:
1. Chris Quinn 2. Charles Lee 3. Adrian Griffin 4. Pat Kelsey 5. Niko Medved 6. Speedy Claxton 7. Sam Cassell 8. Kevin Young 9. Jordi Fernandez 10. Brian Keefe

Good overall list. I would add Dusty May and Wes Miller to that list.
May felt forced to come back to Florida Atlantic with all of their players coming back off the run they had to thE Final Four. They are going to make the NCAAT again this season, and think with not the Final Four run he will look at bigger jobs.
Wes Miller is still upset he didn't get the UNC job. He has a good chance of getting to the NCAAT in just a few years at Cincinnati, and he will be eyeing other SEC and ACC jobs. He wants to return to the south.

It’s a great list but like coot football we have never been able to attract the top tier guy out side on one guy who got out as soon as possible. I tip my hat and hope your list is legit

I don’t see us going nba assistant coaches route. Also for them we would be only a stepping stone

Not necessarily every year there is a list of Up and Coming NBA assistants and very rarely does it pan out. Some of these guys are a walking Peter Principle and a few are lucky enough to know it. Grab a youngish NBA Assistant, make him the top dawg, nice salary, STABILITY and maybe you spare him the embarrasment of trying to make the Charlotte Hornets revelent with only 3 years to do it.
Its not crazy.

It doesn’t have to be a big name. I mean we aren’t the type of program who can go steel big names. Neff needs to scan the lower levels or look for a high level assistant ready to make the jump.
I’m willing to miss on the next guy in an effort to at least try to find the guy that can take us to the NCAAT more often. We just try again after 5 years.
To me being a 10 win team isn't worse than 19-20 wins and missing the tournament. Missing the tournament is missing the tournament and it’s a failure of a season.

He needs to light up the room when he walks in. He needs to be charismatic and have plenty of energy. Needs to be a great recruiter and hire a great staff that he involves and trust. Kids in college today all want to play in the NBA. Needs to come out of NBA or have serious NBA connections

I say take 5 years OFF from MBB - give it a well deserved rest

Let the Clemson fan base recover from the trauma of the CBB years.
Save the money, re-group, re-direct the funding back into FOOTBALL NIL. Get the FOOTBALL CFP action back in play.
Open up Littlejohn to conventions, shows, student events, etc. etc.
