First off, I don't think Dabo has any interest. Clemson football as the world knows it today is his baby, and this is his home. Also, for him, if he thinks expectations are unrealistic here and appreciate is low, he's smart enough to know that it will be even worse at Bama.
But the main difference between Dabo and someone like Saban is that Saban was a coach. Dabo is a culture builder. A guy like Saban could go pretty much anywhere and eventually have a good measure of success. He's an X's and O's guy. Dabo is certainly good at that, too, but his strength is in building a culture of success and winning. A mindset. A family. It was epitomized, I think, by Bouleware's speech after the 2016 natty, where he referenced all the teams and players that came before. No other national championship team/player has done that. Dabo wants more than one great season at a time. He wants something that will transcend the record books and polls.
Some coaches are happy to bounce around from school to school, a few years here, a few years there, and they like the challenge of making that program successful (or, more realistically, making themselves successful at that program). Dabo is in it for the long term. That's the "All In" mantra. Not just in it for one season at a time, but in it for the long haul. He's not just drawing up plays and building a team. He's continually working on building a program, a tradition, and a lasting legacy for his players. He's always working solidifying and making stronger his foundation - not just decorating the walls with trophies and plaques. A guy like Dabo wouldn't work well at a program like Bama. I honestly don't see him going anywhere but into retirement after Clemson, whenever that is. The way he coaches, it can't be done in a couple of seasons. It's a process for him. That'll never work at a place like Bama.

If Lanning is indeed in Tuscaloosa already means this plan has been in place for awhile. I think Saban let them know he was retiring weeks before the end of the season so they would be prepared for his announcement. That is why Lanning is already in Alabama because it was planned in advance. Just my opinion.

But I was speaking just in general about why Dabo wouldn't be a good fit for a program like Bama. Lanning can have it! Best of luck to him!

I totally agree! Bama fans are doing us a huge favor too by erasing ANY doubt in Dabo’s mind he is staying here! Dabo has reaffirmed repeated his philosophy & what works for him. Guess what, it works for Clemson too. I am glad they don’t want him because we do! Dabo has and continues to build his house on the rock while others like fsu , USuck, Colorado, & others are building theirs on sinking sand (ie: the portal). I’ll take Dabo & his biblical philosophy every day of the week! Go Tigers! Stay Dabo!
