Why would any 5 star go to Tennessee?

That program is still in disarray. Of all the offers Malone has and he picks there? Good luck to him, I hope he finds success. At this point Vandy is a better team and has better academics! He knows what is best for him, though

Tennessee will be back...

Maybe sooner rather than later. Butch Jones has them moving in the right direction that the previous two coaches couldn't do. Once he has more talent (which he is doing well with recruiting this year) they will be back in the top 2-3 of the SEC East.

I understand that but how does that never catch up with them at the high schools with future classes. ACC schools could never do that without repercussions

High School coaches have memories about as long as i do. And mine is faltering quick. A few calls from Head Coach and said high school coach is happy and all is forgotten.
Regardless, cleaning up 3 or 4 spots a year MAY be well worth it. We sign 18-20, others sign 28-32 and it doesnt take long to figure out the deck is stacked and bag men and SEC money have nothing to do with it.

that. But I do agree that it's getting harder to compete with the way others do things. Maybe it is time to that, that. They could"encourage" a few to transfer to smaller schools(even help in the process) for playing time and a chance to still continue their education.
Also, I do think you could push the Medical Hardship ( Saban abuses the h3ll out of it), where guys that are not working out will have a chance still at an education.
You could clear 2-4 spots easily a year without outright pulling a scholarship of a guy because he didn't work out as planned. Still over 4 years , it could give you about 16 extra schollies.

They lost several players in the Kiffin-Dooley-Jones transitions.

25+ 5 that come in early and count backwards because they had a small classlastyear + 3 greyshirts. More than likely they will sign a few more due to attrition. Perfectly legal. What I don't understand is why don't we do it.

Honetly ? A 5 star kid going to his home state university ?
Dec 4, 2013, 1:36 PM

Nothing abnormal about that. I doubt if most of the things being said right would even be being said if not the crap that happened this last weekend where he was put on the sidelines of the Denver/KC game @ KC.
Sometimes the easiest way for a school to get a 5 star kid is him being home grown.

I don't follow recruiting as much until bowl season ends. That makes perfect sense, I just saw people freaking out that we missed on him. Tennessee has never been that much of a hot bed for us save for the occasional recruit.

several CU commits tweeted we had him, then it looks like Tennessee got worried and rolled out the SEC recruiting plan last weekend, sending to the KC/Denver game with sideline passes and access to Manning and Berry(giving new meaning to the unlimited contacts rules). Otherwise , I don't think people would be losing their minds.
