Wildcat

Does anybody else not like this formation? The defense knows that it will be a running play. Ellington is either going to hand off the jet sweep or run up the middle. Its almost no chance of passing in this formation. The D can just load the box. I just think the risk is not worth the reward.

think about it

tajh has been doing a great job running the ball this year and is clearly more agile than he was last year..is he as good a runner as ellington? of course not but he can absolutely kill you with his arm

u can keep tajh in the game and still send sammy in motion while having ellington set behind tajh..it gives you more options than the wildcat because it keeps the option to pass open

chances are ellington will not beat you with his arm

i just think the defense has more things to worry about when tajh is on the field..about 4 more things..our receivers

each time ive seen the wildcat this year ive rolled my eyes..i think the one time we ran it against bc we punted that drive..i wish i knew what the stats were over the entire season on when we run the wildcat and punting

if the formation were as worthless as you make it out to be, it wouldn't be used at all. chad morris will admit himself he's not perfect, but (and no offense to you) i'd rather let him call the plays than you. Go Tigers!!

dont think anyone was hating on chad morris right there

i think we are saying that our opinions are that maybe those 2 wildcat plays a game can be put to better use

im also glad we do not call the plays as well as set the rosters

if it went by t net adam humprhies would be at cornerback lateek townsend would play every position on the d line and tony steward would be d coordinator

i get exactly what you're saying. all i'm trying to say is that The Chad must've thought it put them in the best situation at the time considering how many times i've read an article where he says that exact same thing. all the coaches continually stress how they are always trying to put the players in a position to be successful. my only thought process is that he must've seen something in practice or on film that made him call that play. just my two cents, for what it's worth. ha

can be as opposed to giving the defense something else to think about. Keep them on their toes. Not only do they have to worry about Sammy rushing and receiving, but now passing? Does AE hand it to Tahj for the long bomb to Nuk while Sammy fakes the reverse? I'd say it's more of tempo changer, misdirection type of move, keep the D guessing.

we run it. Since we have one of the top five QBs in the nation, Id prefer to have him on the field EVERY offensive snap. Honestly, I think the wildcat actually gives defenses LESS to think about when Boyd isnt in there.
