Wow - didn't realize some AU players are in court Sept 1st

Aug 26, 2016, 1:12 PM

Last paragraph...no missed time huh Gus? Didn't Sammy miss two games: One against AU specifically?

http://auburn.247sports.com/Article/Auburn-safety-Stephen-Roberts-arrested-on-eluding-police-firearm-46978579

"Five Auburn players have been arrested since April, including several potential starters. Defensive end Byron Cowart, receiver Ryan Davis, cornerback Carlton Davis and defensive back Jeremiah Dinson were arrested on possession of marijuana charges April 30. Malzahn said none of the players will miss playing time. They're scheduled to appear in court Sept. 1.

Auburn opens the season Sept. 3 against Clemson. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT on ESPN."

My question is...

Does the court have the authority to prevent them from playing?

Seems this decision would be up to the judicial system, rather than a coach.

I see you're anti constitution.

Aug 26, 2016, 1:22 PM

Let's give all the power to the government. It's the coaches decision. Auburn is the one that is selling their soul to win.

I think what he's eluding to is the fact that the courts can find them guilty and sentence them to jail time thereby keeping them from playing.

this is true, but judges normally don't send college kids to jail.

I'm also speaking from experience. I had a minor incident that involved drinking. Not a dui. I do know that people that were also there with weed charges and they only had to take a drug class. I had to hire a lawyer and fight it up until the day of the trial.

There's a difference between jail and prison. Judges would send college kids to jail in a heartbeat(been a corrections officer for going on 10 years) 9 times outta 10 it could weekend time for a few weeks, could get PTI(pre trial intervention, which could be classes, community service, etc etc) which keeps them from having a record, or any number of things. But that's also for people who aren't Div 1 college football players, I wouldn't be surprised it they just get a slap on the wrist and told to have a nice day.

Their in Alabama, where football is the gospel. They judge will not sentence them to any time behind bars. Probably have all charges dropped. To prove Gus was right in not suspending them. Go Tigers.

Technically it does have the power

They could put him in jail. But they probably won't

In fairness to you, it's incredibly difficult to
