You must know these things before talking to anyone about this Saturday's game

FSU fans love their statistics and statistically impressive team. If numbers tell the whole story then why does Navy have more yards per completion than FSU? These are just a few facts and observations that should help you diagnose the upcoming game.
1) FSU's sack leader is Lamarcus Joyner (DB) with 2
2) FSU's margin of victory changes a drastic 34 points between home (+55) and away (+21) games
3) FSU's statistically imposing rushing attack has feasted on non-AQ teams (8.3 yp) as opposed to AQ teams (4.4)
3b) Clemson's has been within .5 yards of its season average against every opponent it has faced.
Fun Fact: Clemson had more conference victories than FSU's three BCS conference opponents combined last year (7 vs 6) that is still true this year (4 vs 3)
4) Clemson has held 4 of its 5 BCS opponents (all AQ) to at or under 20% 3rd down conversion rate (UGA 28%) FSU has held 1 of 4 BCS conference opponents to at or under 20% (Maryland 13%)
5) Despite holding a 7 point or more lead at the half of every game, FSU's second half offense has actually out scored its first half offense. Out scoring its opponents by +133 total points. This is the reason for many inflated offensive statistics.
6) Through five games FSU's high flying offense has only scored 30 points in the 1st quarter (worst quarter for either team) out scoring opponents by +9 in this period (worst differential for either team.
6b) Clemson has out scored opponents 76-21 or +55 in the 1st quarter.
Better coaches, veteran QB and The Real Death Valley!! Tigers win by 13.

Good post. Do you think we will beat Md. by 63?
That would certainly do it for us.

Dabo is not that kind of coach. We only blew out wake because we wanted to test our offense after the NC State failure.

FSU fans reference our defensive performance in the UGA game and offensive performance in the BC game. Tell them to reference our offensive performance in the UGA game and our defensive performance in the BC game. Both teams coming off their best defensive performance of the season but at least our opponents starting QB and WR played the whole game. I heard FSU's BC game was away and ours was at home. Well guess what we are at home this Saturday.

They always mention Clemson's "sucky defense" but then bring up Boston College. The team they gave up 34 to, we gave up 14. If they play defense like that Tajh Boyd will have a field day and we will win by 2-3 TDs. I don't expect them to do that though. I'm not worried about either unit not performing, the defense did give up 35 to Georgia but forced a ton of punts as well. If we can rattle Jameis, maybe get an early interception we will be able to slow the offense down. Otherwise it could be a shootout.
I don't look too much into the 63-0 game. Jimbo left Jameis Winston in the game until they were up 49-0. Dabo would have pulled Tajh after the 4th or 5th score, not the 7th. They ran up the score to make a statement and wanted to kill Maryland, not because they were 63 points better. Maryland was without it's starting QB for 3/4 of the game as well. It was 21-0 until CJ Brown went down. I don't expect a team like Florida State to show too much class, anyway.

That's all well and good except for #5. The fact the we have scored every time we have had the ball in the third quarter this year is one thing I love about this team. It's hardly a negative.

Heres a fact. Most of the time our second and third stringers are scoring in the third quarter while your starters play the whole game to make you guys "look" better than you really are. You are who we think you are. We will show you who you are Saturday night and you are not going to like who you turn out to be. Bring it Pocahontas.

Kept the starters in until it was 49-0 against Maryland and 46-6 against Bethune-Cookman. Those stats are somewhat inflated by the fact that Jimbo has no problem running up the score, whereas Dabo pulls his guys when we are up 4 scores, not 6,7, or 8.

I think that whitehurst74 nailed the point of #5. Throwing the ball on a demoralized team isn't really impressive. All of the offensive stats for Clemson have come in a first half flurry. Furthermore the only team that hasn't played us hard into the 4th would probably be wake forest. Haven't understood that trend yet. I watch blowouts all over espn where the down team just rolls over and takes it. Oh well. Go tigers!

Pretty sure the score was 14-0 when brown left that game

They scored in the waning seconds of the half otherwise the would have only posted 14 at home against a team that had given up already. If you watche that game JW was getting hot. Yelling at his teammates when things weren't going well. Tajh is the leader of our team. JW isn't there yet.
