If anything he's digressed since the ACC championship game.
He is a turn-over machine. Funny, DJ had the same problem here and now he is flourishing.
He certainly doesn't know how to run a 2 min offense.
Is it a lack of development or is Cade overrated?
I am wrestling with this.
What say y'all?

Cade has the tools to be great.
We all see how bad his supporting cast is.
But the mistakes he is still making don’t make any sense. And lack of experience doesn’t explain them. So I don’t know. I don’t have a good feeling about him. That UNC game feels like a total fluke.

something about the way we practice must change, but don't know that Dabo yet has it in him - no QB in some time for Tigers has gotten anything but unwarranted support for continual catastrophic mistakes (perhaps because coaches know THEY are culpable in preparation), but have NEVER understood why Dabo takes SOOO long to even bench a QB for a series or two just to wake them up after screw ups. DJ should have sat after the third straight 3 and out v GA just to TRY to reignite a fire in him. Same with Cade - has paid little penalty for ALL of his catastrophic mistakes, especially IF he went rouge at MIAMI - Dabo treats them with kid gloves and whole program (and fans) pay the price. Should have seen some snaps by Hunter and/or Vizzini in some of these games by now
Want no one else as coach. Great man and has done SO much, but this has been an issue we have mostly overcome with superior talent in past, rather than appropriate adjustment/improvement - not cutting it presently.
This team has talent to beat anyone, but continued performances similar to those so far this year (and last few years quite frankly) and the loses will continue to mount.
Hope all wake up soon. Season essentially over, so PLEASE give others playing time in prep for next year to see who is really ALL IN Am old enough to recall the struggles of the 6-5 1980 team that planted seeds for first title the following year. They need to change focus as full prep for coming season (and hopefully at least close with win v USC, who will be formidable enough for this team and will likely have same mindset as last year, no matter the early score, of being patient to allow our QB to get THEM in the best position to win)
Hope Cade (or others) have become more reliable by then

Seems to me like you are under the notion that its Cade's fault and that somehow you can fix bad coaching by putting in another poorly developed/coached player to run a predicitable & poorly called offense.

Cade's got undeniable talent. I think it's not so much that he's overrated (at least not significantly so), but that he's one of those guys who needs two full years as a backup before a junior year breakout. You know, the way it used to be...
Seems DJU is that kind of player, too, given how he's doing this year. Though the system probably has a lot to do with that, too.

He has regressed, just as Trevor did. Dabo needs to hire position coaches who know what they are doing.

DJ is doing ok (good for him), idk about "flourishing".
DJ was also 5-4 in his first 9 starts - split the 2 starts in 2020 and 4-3 in the first 7 games of 2021.
DJ finished 22-6 at Clemson including getting credit for the ACCCG Cade played most of. Idk if he'll get the chance, but let's see where CK stands after 28 starts.

He looked great in the ACC champ because that was against one of the worst defenses in the country.
When he has time, he throws a beautiful ball.
He’s under pressure so much it makes him look like a spaz. Also, WR are not getting separation. Look back at that last minute drive, he look indecisive, but it’s because all the WRs are on out routes and clogged up the sidelines with defenders. That’s a coaching choice to not get tackled and have the clock run out. I personally think someone should have been on a post route.
Bottom line, Cade would be much better with a better OL.

This 100% don’t care who’s at QB. Trevor, Deshaun or Tom Brady would look pedestrian with this OL.no time to go thru progressions or make reads

I live in the Austin Texas area and was able to watch the Texas State high school football championships when Cade Klubnik was the winning quarterback. I watched because I kne that had decided to go to Clemson. He was a scrambler that never got sacked and could find receivers. He had a receiver named Greathouse that was a very big kid. I believe that he went to Notr Dame. I would say compared to high school, the Clemson O line does not protect him as well and he does not have a great receiver.

I watched full games of the kid and came away thinking he had an above average arm but was elite in many other areas. I was very excited. They ran a more creative offense than Clemson does now which is a darn shame.

PACIFIC BEACH TIGER® Hard to argue -- any CK2 progression has been minimal. CK2 shares responsibility with the entire offense but the complete lack of pass & run blocking coupled with WR's lack of separation & drops have been factors.
But even bigger is Riley Garrett working with 15-plus Dabo-hired coaches/staffers/analysts/GA's on Offense. Riley has had to train them all along with the players ... all the while with Dabo constantly in Cade's ear throughout the game when Riley should be coaching & teaching Cade. Lots of valid questions.

Cade is in a long line of Clemson QBs to not progress as expected.
Not to derail the topic of discussion, but we can say the same about plenty of position groups. We aren’t developing talent like we used to.

Are you watching DJ bc he's still the same QB(Heck Siden Chiles another true freshmen has been nipping at his heels all year for pt). And more teams are willing to T off on this offense bc there is 0 fear of this offenses skill positions. Cade gets like 1.5 seconds before he's getting moved in the pocket. The missed reads and not seeing the field comments are hilarious, how does he have time when his OL is getting whooped on the snap he has time to make one read if it's not there he's got a guy in his face or his OL pushed into his lap. The crazy thing is the OL gets no push even when the box is light. Basically the OL is so bad that defenses can just do whatever they want blitz sure, drop 8 sure, rush 2 sure.

Pretty sure Cade held on that first series Saturday to bring back a big gainer... Collins holding nowhere near the ball at that... yep that's on Cade, along with every other mistake the team made...
He had his share of less than perfect plays and his share of bad plays.. also had his share of bad luck ... the tip pass pick-6 was a good play by the defender and just bad luck for where he ball went... 9 out of 10 times the defender does not get his hand up and get the ball... 9 out of 10 times it falls on the ground...
If you watched him play, he's improved quite a bit week to week... did you happen to notice when he took off to get the first down he slid well past the first down marker? So yea he learned a lesson from the Duke game... FSU game he got hammered more than once hanging in the pocket and waiting for the receiver to get open, that is quality qb play...
Overthrow interception was a really bad throw... but we are not in that position if we don't make the mistakes plays earlier to set up that 3d and long... with a single receiver ...
Offense has ALOT of work to do... ALOT... the entire offense...
D seems to give up one or two big plays a game... so thats on Cade too right?

Well for one the kid has a shi##y o-line that gives him no protection so there's that. It's hard to progress when you're running for your life about every #### snap.

last season we moved the ball and scored at a good rate, and most importantly, won the games.
Now, Cade might be great someday, but he is struggling to get anything going. Mistakes/turnovers can happen to everyone no matter how great or how bad.
It is how you respond to that turnover/mistake... do you lead the team on a scoring drive to help the team or not ?? are you able to get it together enough to help the team secure a win ?? Cade has shown neither this season and has had ample opportunity. I'm not sure why Helms isn't getting reps, and if it is as someone said that Cade might "leave" if benched, well why have him here anyway if he isn't a team player. At least give Helms a series or 2, not sure how he can turnover the ball more than once per possession anyway so why not give it a shot.

This may be unpopular, but I'd venture to say Trevor, DJ and now unfortunately Cade all digressed while at Clemson. Trevor is now the Jaguars dynasty QB we all thought he would be and DJ is doing very well at Oregon State.
