5-star signee Imari Berry has reopened her recruitment and already has a new list of top schools. She joins Clemson's other recent McDonald's All-American Ruby Whitehorn, among more, in the transfer portal after Amanda Butler's firing.

It will be very interesting to see who takes this job as they will very nearly have to start from scratch in one of the two most competitive leagues (i.e. at the moment I type this) in the country.

Whitehorn was way over-rated coming out of HS based on her play here. But if you look at her stats over the last half dozen games, I believe she would have had a breakout year next year. Berry , based on what film I've seen is the real deal and I believe will have a very successful freshman season wherever she ends up. It is a puzzle that Butler could recruit these two but couldn't fill out a roster.

Ruby is a bricklayer. She will never be a top scorer like she was in high school where she was just a better athlete than everyone else.

If you mean she will never be a great 3 pt. shooter, maybe so. Time will tell. A guard that finished 8th in FG% in conference games is hardly a bricklayer, however.

I guess since y'all think she was so overrated, there's a lot of bad coaches out there. Dawn, uconn, lsu, they all wanted her badly.
As for Amanda, there's a myriad of reasons why she had the record she did. On the outside looking in, she should have been given one more year to prove it, just like Brad got.
Not being on the inside, I'm thinking it was a conflict or friction between her and Neff. I'm not so sure this isn't tied to Brad's situation.

Good point. The 5 girls that started the season and beat Duke were never on the floor together for any other conference games.

Brandon, didn't see where you mentioned the other two, in addition to whitehorn, that entered the portal.

We only had 13 on roster anyway. By my calculations only 6 will be left. Only 2 had any minutes. So we'll need about 8 from the portal.

Thank you Warren. I havent been to the site. Just following them on social media. Didn't know about Ott.
Some may come back with a new coach. Although I think that's highly unlikely. One would think if the coach was bad or the players wanted change, some would have stayed. There were at least 3 that loved them some coach butler.
I am saddened for the Clemson Life program. Amanda gave endless hours to those kids. She helped them up when they needed. I'm sure some are confused about what happened.

It feels like she didn't get the same opportunities as Brownell has gotten and she inherited a much much worse situation than the 7 straight post season tournament program that Brad Brownell inherited. Recruiting and transfers have been pointed to as a reason to keep Brad around over the years, but evidently it didn't help Amanda. Has Brad ever signed a 5-star player?
