Brownell is just like my oldest sister's 2nd husband was. We all knew she had made a terrible mistake, but knew she would not listen to us. (Our mom tried to reason with her, and got told off for her efforts). Some lessons have to be learned from painful experience, as, unfortunately, my sister eventually learned, and Clemson is still in the process of learning.

My sister eventually realized that mom had only her best interest at heart, and made amends. Someday, Clemson will realize the same thing about Brownell, and those that the Cobbox's and other JK scoks of the world want to call the Lunatic Fringe will be vindicated. What will they do then? I hope they follow Brad wherever he goes, as long as it is away from here!

Locals have opportunities to go to home games for as little as $5 and many pass. Even tonight, there’s a pretty significant chance for me to fall asleep by the end of the game.

I do have season tickets and actually go to the games.
Brownell won’t be fired this season. Full stop.
In my opinion, he should have been fired years ago, based on his full body of work at Clemson.
Since that hasn’t happened, it won’t happen based on this year’s results nor would it be a good look for the University at this time.
In the meantime we will continue with a coach who is not a good recruiter, who doesn’t show much passion or have the personality to create interest from the fan base.
Having said all that, I hope we somehow win the ACC, have a deep run in the NCAA, but I have little confidence of either thing happening.

Do you truly think athletic directors work in a vacuum? Just because we don’t get to sit Brad down and say “you’re Fired!” doesn’t mean “none of us have any say”. There are lots of factors that influence an athletic department’s decision making (note department, not director, since most do not have full autonomy over such large financial decisions) and one most certainly is fan sentiment. This is how fans express their sentiment and it matters. It is also a leading indictator for more direct issues - like revenue generation. So stop with the authoritarian, let’s sit on our hands and let the paid professionals decide, nonsense.

I guess you missed the post yesterday that, per Clemson’s published financial reports attendance, ticket revenue, attendance related revenue (concessions, parking, etc.) were all lower in ‘22-‘23 than in ‘09-‘10. That is during the period of biggest economic growth in Clemson history and one of the greatest inflationary periods in most of our lifetimes. Net operating profit has gone from a million in profit to a 4.5 million loss under Brownell. Any thoughts on that smart guy deroberts

I’m giving you information directly from their reports and that’s your response. They’ve made a massive financial, opportunity, and time cost in Brad. Neff has only been on the job for two years and obviously thought this year justified the potential risk reward. We’ll find out shortly if he thought it was.

We’ve traded 3 emails in the last year. He responds courteously and in a surprisingly thorough manner. He has also expressed more reservation about the lack of success over the last decade and more robust outlook on Clemson’s potential than just about any of the Brownell Bros. You seem to think what he’s done is good enough and all we’ll ever have and I can assure you, unless you want to call Neff a liar, his opinion is far more in line with mine than with yours.

So why is it a bad look to fire an at best moderately success coach after 14 years of mediocrity. It happens all the time. The bad look is saying we don’t care if we ever win any championships or if we make it to the big dance only once every 5 years or so.

Bought season tickets for about 30 years myself. Drove from ATL area for almost every game, every year, never missed an ACC game. Gave them up under Brownell, but the cause was primarily that IPTAY moved our seats to progressively worse places in the two reseatings they did AND the drive from and back to ATL was simply no longer feasible for too many games.

I was trying to point out to deroberts above that actual gross ticket sales dollars were less last year than they were more than decade ago when he took over. That’s actually quite stunning to wrap your head around. And that includes the actual tickets to all these super premium seating areas that are all sold but often sit empty. It doesn’t include the large, requisite seat donation but that’s account for elsewhere . Even after renovations and these super premium offerings, which are sold out, net basketball revenue has swung from a million profit to a four and a half million loser.
