Clemson #3 on 247 recruiting list. What is up w/ Bama??

I know it’s still really early, but it just seems like this is extremely unusual for Bama to be sitting at #47 with only five commitments.
Normally, if they’re not #1, they’re at least Top-5 at this point.
What is Saban up to? Inquiring minds want to know.

It is early and they’ll no doubt climb this list abruptly at some point.
You’re right, though. Strange they haven’t landed more of their class at this point.

Nah, the last couple years they were this low at this point. One year came back to have the best class of all time before TAM got that last year.

Still working on the NIL contracts for the players
Our hope is the elite players looking for a payday will not clump together at Bama and UGA as they have in years past but will be spread out among the schools who are willing to play the game. Would love to see how great Saban really is without an elite player at every position. We need Oregon, USC, Texas, Ohio, Tenn, Florida, Miami and a few others to step up and grab a couple each.

The very best recruits, the ones Alabama covets, are still out there and NIL deals are being played against one another.
This year is a big year for us and we will have opportunity to oversign if we can compete for the highest level recruits. We are signing the guys that we can right now. This class will be big enough that the cream will rise to the top.
Not sure that Alabama had committable offers out to any of our current signees. And if they did, it was only two a few.

they have an average recruit rating of 96. ours is 91 by comparison. once they get more 4/5 star commits, which will happen, they will skyrocket.

They are typically slow to gain commits. I assume they will climb the ladder quickly as we did. If you look at 247 they have a lot of interest and CB's from many of the top 50-100 recruits in the country. They will be near the top at the end of the cycle.

I agree, they are typically slow at getting recruits. I have seen it many times before, under Saban. But, at the end, they will be where they always are......near the top. I think what is happening this year is that since we are very near the top this early, many more Clemson fans are interested in recruiting. And as always, we want to know where Bama is.
I always check the rankings and number of recruits early, and especially since our 2016 NC. Bama would be doing like they are now, and I would think, it is finally happening, recruits are realizing that Saban can't be around forever, and they are not going there. Like what happened at USC when Spurrier actually said he wasn't going to coach forever. But they still end up #1 or #2.?? After we kicked dirt in their face in the 2018 NC, I knew WE would be the next Bama! Still, it didn't turn out to be. Eventually, it WILL happen! Saban may coach until he passes, but he can't be on this earth forever.... I don't think.??

Alabama, Ohio State, and Georgia will end up in the top five if not the top three and Miami, Oklahoma, and Southern Cal will probably have excellent recruiting classes because of the excitement around new coaches. Of course Texas A&M and Texas will end up with good classes again as well.
Recruiting is always hard but it’s getting harder because there are some big name programs with new coaches, quite a few big programs in transition, and of course The transfer portal and NIL.
The next few years are going to be very interesting.
