Clemson vs Alabama 2008

Anyone go to this game. It was the first game of the season in the Georgia dome. I think coach was Tommy Bowden, maybe his last. We were highly ranked and my son and buddy drove down with me. Took the subway to stadium. 1/2 Clemson fans, 1/2 Alabama fans. They murdered us. The Clemson fans left at half time. We stayed and everyone was pretty good while we waited an hour plus to get on the subway.

CJ 2nd half kick return was pretty much only good thing that happened, other than the game ending lol. It was not good at all. Think Clemson was ranked top 10, maybe even top 5 but not looking that up 😫

I think Dabo may have been named interim coach after that game. We finished 7-6. I'm pretty sure we beat the coots.

That game is the main reason that Dabo is the head coach.
Losing to Wake Forest was just icing on the cake.

That was the beginning of the end for Bowden. He “stepped down” after the Wake loss later in the season.

I was there. We got destroyed. That was the start of Alabama’s dynasty and the start-of-the-end of Tommy Bowden’s Clemson career. He was not fired after that game. He was fired midseason after we lost Wake Forest.
It was also the Jamie Harper fumble game on the second play of the game.

That game highlighted how weak Clemson was on the lines of scrimmage. It ended up being a blessing because it was the start of getting rid of Bowden and replacing with Dabo.

Yes, and I think the 2nd and 3rd championships were both against Alabama. Good times.

I was there. Clemson fans did NOT leave at half. We freaked out when CJ

ran it back on the kickoff and then held them to a 3 and out. We were LOUD in the 3rd quarter.

I went and stayed to the bitter end. As someone else mentioned, CJ was the only bright spot and did everything he could.

That was the tear when Alabama started to turn around. If we had played them in any of the 5 seasons prior, we would have smoked them.
