Disney ESPN SEC MLB NBA NFL

Disney CEO Bob Iger said on CNBC that he is actively looking for a partner who could aid ESPN. Reports are he is shopping a portion of the 80 percent ownership stake in ESPN to MLB NFL and NBA in some sort of distribution partnership co-ownership. I would love to see the profit and loss statement for Disneys relationship with the ACC. If it “tied up” too much capital and “wasn’t a growing revenue stream” could Disney and ACC agree to part ways ? Sure but I bet ACC is profitable and if Disney isn’t bidding on your product why leave ?

You have hit exactly the one thing that matters. What do the numbers say when Disney crunches them. They go the ACC for cheap for that scares me that they will fight to hold on to this "cheap content". I am hoping it is the opposite and the numbers say they are better off cutting lose the ACC contract.

There is 0 incentive for Disney to write a larger check that’s for sure .

controlling interest in ESPN from Disney. Then, not only can we dissolve the GOR, we can tell the SEC what to do! Now THAT would be hilarious.

From Chris Vannini of The Athletic: "A larger College Football Playoff contract is coming up, and Fox wants in. ESPN can’t pay for everything anymore. Disney CEO Bob Iger is publicly considering investing partners for the network. What happens when linear TV continues to decline and revenues follow? You drop dead weight."
