I think they are triggered by the number of daylight hours but yes you are right about the weather. I've been in Texas for the last little while, including all the way down to the border Town of Laredo where it's been well into triple digits for weeks.

They were probably looking for air conditioning.

I am 1,000,000% ready for cooler weather. Every year come August I’m sick of the heat but this year it has been rough. Im ready for those crisp cool fall days. Best time of the year hands down. I can finally breathe a sigh of relief at work (HVAC tech). Not to mention college football, deer hunting, Halloween, and Christmas around the corner. Absolutely the best time of the year. Anyways GO TIGERS!!!

I’m in telecommunications so I spend a good amount of times in attics fishing walls and this year has been terrible the worst in recent memory. Your right though I love going to work once fall and winter hit so refreshing not burning to death lol.

The summer of 1978 was pretty bad. I worked in Columbia at that time and for two weeks the temperature hit 100 Degrees or higher each day.

Dude, this hasn't even been the hottest summer in SC

in recent years.

Slow your roll. Its summer. Its variably hot. It always has been and always will be.

And it hasn't got anything to do with he lie that is "man-made global warming".

I have been working outside for the last week. I have never sweated more. I am drinking an outrageous amount of water though and I have been fine. It's the sunburn that gets me and not the heat.

I hate to chime in on this one buy our temps in July and

Aug 15, 2023, 11:33 AM

August have been right the at normals (average). The months of March through June were anywhere from 3-5 degrees below normal(average) That depends on where you are in South Carolina. I believe the weather people online and on TV cause a lot of mass hysteria with their warnings of "100 million American are in danger of heat, thunderstorms, etc. Same way in winter. I heard they dismissed schools early in Columbia the other day because of predicted severe thunderstorms. Those things along with sitting around in AC all day and then getting in a hot car, driving to WalMart and Lowe's then walking across 110 degree pavement tend to make us think the world is melting. I don't deny global temps may be rising slightly at this time but there has been only one degree average rise in daily max temp in SC since I started watching this in 1981.

The summer of 1980 was just as bad. In those days we raised popcorn on the farm and stored it in the dairy barn. One afternoon we had a catastrophe- it got so hot in the barn that the popcorn started popping and the cows thought it was snowing and laid down and froze to death.
