ESPN's top-five

Jun 29, 2021, 7:47 PM

bet getters for this coming season’s Heisman Trophy.

The list of Heisman favorites by number of bets goes as follows:

1. Oklahoma QB Spencer Rattler (+550)
2. Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud (+3,500)
3. Texas RB Bijan Robinson (+2,500)
4. Georgia QB JT Daniels (+1,200)
5. UNC QB Sam Howell (+1,500)

They sure messed this up.

Not really, that have so many talking sports people that they employ to sway the voters to any direction they want it to go, and they can even change their mind in mid stream, and lead the voters in another direction!!!

J T Daniels. Wow. After 4 games in Athens. Hilarious!

Let's see how it goes after he plays 5 games....***

My early pick for the Heisman is...

Jun 29, 2021, 8:05 PM

Bijan Robinson.

I strongly dislike UT but this guy is incredible. If he doesn't win, he will finish as the highest non-QB.

The times I've seen Spencer Rattler play, he gets "rattled" easily when pressured. Reminds me of Andy Dalton. He also isn't a big threat running the ball. Against creampuff D-lines, the guy can seriously light it up because his arm-talent is undeniable. If OU's O-line is great this year (I have no idea if they are or not), he might pull it off.

Nobody has a clue about CJ Stroud.

JT Daniels? LOL, seriously? He got run out of USC by a better player. IMO, Kedon Slovis should be in the top 5.

Sam Howell might go next-level this year. Flip a coin.

DJ gets no respect, yet again, from ESPN. In case anyone forgot, they ranked him #43 as a recruit. 247 has him at #10; Rivals at #3. Hmmm.

ESPN has been pimping Rattler since last season. Barring injury, nobody else has a chance.

DJ would have to put on a clinic against the dogs in a statement win to take a commanding lead early, because there is not really anyone else on our schedule that is going to draw much national attention, nor afford him 4 quarters worth of stats. Maybe if a couple more ACC teams were to step up this year and work their way to the rankings, he will get more opportunities to shine on the big stage. Otherwise, I say a lackluster schedule hurts his chances here.

Agree with you, but...

Jun 30, 2021, 1:08 PM

the same thing can be said about all 4 QBs in ESPN's top 5.

IF our O-line plays well this year, I think DJ has a chance to put up some mind-blowing stats and get serious consideration if we beat UGA.

I really believe Rattler will disappoint a lot of people unless his pocket presence and poise are dramatically better.

Very true that Tigers have team goals and players put individual goals aside.

I'll go on the record

Jun 30, 2021, 1:15 PM

My guess for Heisman Trophy finalists:

Bijon Robinson, UT
DJ
Bryce Young, Alabama
Kedon Slovis, (the real) USC

After years of being a QB award, is their a shift among the voters?

Heisman... Who Cares Anymore?

Jun 30, 2021, 1:16 PM

The Heisman has lost much of its luster over the past 5-10 years. After Watson didn't win it in 2015, I totally lost any remaining interest I once had in it.

wins that doorstop anyway.

That's funny. It reminds me of those antique irons people use as doorstops.

A laughable door stop it is!!!

Isn't that just data? How can they "mess it up?"***

Jun 30, 2021, 1:40 PM

Edit:

Yeah, i think y'all (not necessarily the OP, but some others in this thread) are confusing "bet getters" with favorites to win the award.

Here are the current betting odds:

Spencer Rattler (Oklahoma) +550 11/2
D.J. Uiagalelei (Clemson) +600 6/1
Bryce Young (Alabama) +1000 10/1
JT Daniels (Georgia) +1000 10/1
C.J. Stroud (Ohio State) +1300 13/1
Sam Howell (North Carolina) +1400 14/1
D'Eriq King (Miami-Florida) +2000 20/1

Also, ESPN has nothing to do with who people are betting on.

My bet would be Rattler and then Clemson QB. Daniels, even if he was great, would be hindered by Kirby Smart. We know nothing about CJ Stroud. We don't even know if he will be best QB at Ohio State. McCord is the 5 star coming in. Running back is normally a bad bet.

I would favor Rattler only because he will pass much more in Lincoln Riley's offense. I think the Clemson QB is better.

How can they seriously have Daniels in this discussion??? I say he doesn’t make it through the season healthy. Dude’s a statue.
