middle in the A-gap for no yardage.....mark it down. In fact, I think he will call it roughly 90% of the time on 1st down if history is any indication.
Bush league. I think even Shipley is getting tired of it, based upon his comments last Saturday.

Probably not. I’ll predict the first play to be a pitch to Shipley on the edge. We wait until we get a lead to go away from what is working and start wasting first downs.

No, Streeter doesn't attack the edge when the rungame is starting to work. He abandons it and gets cute with tunnel screens.

Bad, predictable play calling was a huge part of the loss. Playing consistently from 2nd and 9 or 10 is not good.

to the easiest call?
I've notice all season, and in the last 3 games specifically, that we actually have some decent play design on the first 8-10 scripted calls. Motion, misdirection and movement in the backfield that keeps LBs honest and allows Ship to race OT or to the edge for some big gainers.
The inside zone and/or QB draw fake and quick pitchout that we get 8 yards every time we run is a good example of this. Multiple plays look like Chad Morris himself could have conceived them, but we only call them on the first 2 series.

I think he throws deep to the TE first play. You know, show us fans that he’s a creative play caller.
Then he’ll go back to normal…

A run up the middle wouldn't be that bad IF DJ would quit riding the ball carrier into the hole. Give Shipley the ball and let him run! That way he has the opportunity to bounce the play if the middle is clogged. The way they ran it Saturday Shipley AND DJ are holding the ball and nothing can be done to avoid the inevitable no gain. I understand the concept and what they are wanting to do. But Shipley is the best RB on the field. LET HIM WORK!!!!

LOL....on that note, whatever we're doing with tunnel screens or bubble screens, the defense ALWAYS seems to know how to defend it. We have to be giving something away pre-snap that allows the safeties to read it and snuff it out.

Motion the running back out of the backfield to create 5 wide and DJ the only one back there, he fakes a screen pass, then powers through the middle with all his dings, cuts, and bruises acquired this season.
We need DJ to become freshman Tim Tebow and only come in for QB power on short yardage. And punt, he can be our new punter.
