Now that you've brought it up, I'll share this resource for whiskey reviews.
"Whiskey Raiders is a one stop shop for whiskey reviews and coverage. The site aggregates individualized reviews from various top sites (including our own) into one centralized location and assigns one average score."

I am a long time bourbon drinker and I fully agree with the intent of the article. I cannot vouch for all of the brands noted and I can name a couple more than are very good bourbons that are in no way high priced. I've had my share of some high priced well known bourbons favored by collectors The high priced whiskey can be good bourbons. If some one wants to pay more than $50 for a bottle of bourbon, have at it. But for a person who wants to enjoy a good bourbon neat or over ice, I don't think there is any reason to pay a lot for the bourbon.
Generally, I am not impressed by any sort of snob. You want to drive a Benz, go ahead. But don't try to convince others that's necessary to get a great looking, perfectly comfortable or sporty if you, like auto. Prices for cars are going up, but clearly some cars, like some bourbons are overpriced. A $100,000 car in the grocery parking lot or riding down the interstate seems to reflect something other than good sense. $1000 for shoes or $2000 for a suit? Most such high dollar price tags sends a message about the buyer sends a message all right. But many of us do not think it sends a good, or prestigious message at all.

The title is kind of a gimmick. I've had the Knob Creek, Maker's Cask Strength, and Old Forester 1910 and 1920 straight. I like those whiskeys. Buffalo Trace I've only had with cola or ginger ale before I started drinking whiskey straight. I will revisit it without the soda at some point.
I like trying different whiskeys and trying them multiple times over time. I'll try any whiskey as long as the research I've done indicates the whiskey has something worthwhile to offer.
